CCL
Unfortunately for me, I was sick this weekend and was not able to go to Mt. Carmel. Thanks to Track, I was able to follow and imagine how exciting it would have been to be there. Congratulations to Montini for that furious comeback, and for both Montini and Marmion to have 8 in the finals and win 5. Mt. Carmel did so well because all 14 of their wrestlers placed. 13 in the top 4.

If you do not think that these two head coaches don’t know what they’re doing you are nuts. As I understand it, as long as they’re in is not an individual champion even most valuable wrestler, it is just a date like a dual meetAlways support your local wrestling tournament concession stands!!!

Additionally, I was told by the officials there, officials NOT there-IHSA rules interpreters along with CCL personnel that the result is Co-Champions just like in football or baseball in the CCL. This was NOT Regionals where a definitive "winner" had to be chosen in order to advance in the State Series. So the Regional rule on tie-breaking DOES NOT apply here is what I was told by IHSA rules officials. Its just like another tournament like Dvorak or Genoseo that has ties in team scores and places.
Again just applying and repeating what I was told by officials.
Congratulations to both teams who both did not have their "ideal" line-ups or rosters in the tournament.
Can't recall the last time there was a tie or co-champs in wrestling.
Twist you are slightly more "mature" than I am do you remember?

If this is the so called best conference in the country, wrestling is in big trouble. These numbers are alarming. Two teams with full line-ups?
Montini Catholic 12
Mt. Carmel 14
Marmion Academy 14
Providence Catholic 12
St. Rita 12
St. Laurence 10
De La Salle 7
Brother Rice 6
Loyola Academy 5
Fenwick 6
DePaul Prep 9
Leo 4
St Ignatius College Prep 1
St. Joseph 2
Top heavy would be an understatement

50% less D1 college programs in the last 30 years.
Nationwide kids and HS wrestling numbers have been on the decline over the past 10 years.
CCL is probably the most dominant conference in Illinois.
Probably the conference with the most state medalists year in and year out.

wrestling numbers
Well, I just officiated an 11 school conference tournament (all public schools) and every weight class had between 5 and 8 wrestlers. Check the results page for tournaments or duel meets, you can find duel meets with 3 or 4 matches and 10 or 11 forfeits. It is more than just private schools...wrestlingfan

With what's being done to those boys from the private school in Covington, KY... it's getting difficult to even trust your shepherds any longer.
