Can a kid wrestle up a weight a week before Regionals?

If they do and get caught they are disqualified from the IHSA and are forced to face a public stoning.

So a wrestler can only go up 1 weight class? Without mentioning any names. Say a kid wrestled , I don’t know 132 earlier in the year. Can he wrestle 113. For the state series?

Once he made 113 he could weigh in at 120. It is possible he that the weight decent plan could get him down to 113 but unlikely.

It wouldn’t take much of a weight plan at all. If he weighs in at 113.1, he has weighed in at 120 for that event and could wrestle 126 for said event as well. (Ignoring growth allowance for the sake of simplicity).

As for the 132 “example”, same thing. He could have been at 120.1 early in the season and wrestled either 126 or 132. He still could get to 113 gradually as the season went on.

However, after certifying at 113, if said wrestler ever weighed in again at 120.1, his new certified weight is 126 and he cannot go down for the rest of the year.

In a dual to wrestle someone at 132.

If said kid wants to go to 113. Then he obviously made scratch weight before the new year.
