I would rate the Conant sectional 4 out of the 4.

Kudos to the DeKalb Barbs. Ten state qualifiers and an OT loss away from an 11th qualifier. Four of the ten qualifiers are freshmen (T. Curran, D. Curran, D. Lopez & Gillum) and two are sophomores (Aranda & McGee) so, the future looks bright.

Side notes:
- Because I'm curious, I wish someone with more time (smarter) than me calculated tournament scoring between DeKalb & OPRF.
- Fabian Lopez vs Zaccone at 132 will be one of the best matches on Thursday.
- If they both make it through their brackets, Christensen vs Dahnweih at 195 could be a great finals match-up.

132 is the toughest weight class this year. When you have a champ from the previous year (diff. weight) ranked 4th, that is pretty tough- plus more that placed last year. Very tough. 132 - 145 are the kids who have had the deepest bracket all their career. Its probably the average weight for kids who wrestled. Probably a little less than the ave weight of a kid in HS but wrestlers on average are probably leaner than the average kid. (I googled it = 125 lbs is ave. for HS, that seems a little low but that is what good said.)

From what I have seen this year, I would stretch it to 132-160. There are a number of teams, as example, Lemont and Batavia, who seemed to be stacked with top wrestlers in those weights. What made 132 so intriguing, is that there was no consensus #1. Going into sectionals, you had Burnoski-Zaccone at Bolingbrook, Bolivar-Lopez at Conant, and Pucino-Harrier at Barrington. Now you have to favor the 3 winners while I would not count out Lopez, after how he wrestled downstate last year against Odom and Precin.

Most of which shows it is folly to try and “rank” sectionals this way. Heck, how do you even define tough? Hardest to win? Hardest to qualify out of (which would be my choice and also require analysis beyond the top 6)?

It will vary from weight class to weight class.

I'm just glad rankings don't earn Wrestlers points before the match starts.

Beyond top 6 is right. You may even have to count down all the way to top 20. Better yet find the average rank of the 4 placers and alternant. I see them equal as iv seen in many years

This year the team state teams worked out decent also. 7 of (basically) the top 10 will advance to state. Where should Marmion be ranked with all the injuries they have?

including all the way through the state finals. I guess your opinion sucks.

Kudos to Halvorsen also.Nice win. Unless Assad is hurt/sick, maybe would have been wise to actually not beat him at Sectionals. If Assad is healthy at state, they may have just poked the lion with a stick a little early. Disclaimer: Don't know Assad or Halvorsen in anyway shape or form. Just that we have seen it before. Gotta win when it counts. Louis Hayes lost to Real Woods 3 times a few years ago. Including in the finals at Sectionals. But surprised him in the finals at State. Had Hayes beat Woods at Sectionals, highly doubt he would have beat him in the state finals. Could be wrong, but I doubt it.
