They lost to Tinley park in a choke job by the coaches. I think they put in all their backups and towards the end it was too late. It came down to the last match. They had a bunch of state champions that year and I think they won novice and senior in Rockford too.
Do you mean they thought they had the duel one mathematically and said their starters but lost?

MFVE sent out almost all their alternates from the very start of the dual. By the time they realized that Tinley could actually win. There was 2 or 3 matches left in the dual. Tinley won the last match and won by 2. I think the coaches were way to overconfident because they had an extremely loaded team. If they would of wrestled 1/4 of their staters, they win. If they would of wrestled all of their starters, it’s a blowout.

I guess best team ever can mean a couple of things. Such as, best dual team, best tournament team, Team with the most state qualifiers, team with the most state champions, team with the most IHSA champions, most NCAA D1 wrestlers, ect...

16’ MFVE had I think 8 or 9 state champs.
98’ Fox valley had I think also 8 or 9 state champs.
88’ Twisters, how many did they have?
12’ Twisters, how many did they have?

After going through the results on Track, MFVE had all of their starters going in the 2016 dual against Tinley. I am not sure what you are talking about.

They had a lot of qualifiers that year but they were in a very weak sectional.

The first 8 weight classes where they had the option of 2 or more wrestlers at a weight (Starter and Alternates) they decided to sent out their alternates. This 2016 team was so loaded that the alternates were also hammers, but not the starters that year.

Here are the starters that did not wrestle in the Tinley dual.
            70- Cody Tavaso
            74- Matt Piniatowski
            84- Diego Sotelo
            89- Dean Hamiti
            101- Zeke Marshall
            108- Fabian Lopez
            115- Noah Villarreal
            122- Bryan Smith

the 2016 year, Johnson, Gillum, and Blades where not the starters. Now all 3 of them are beast. Probably from having that brutal practice room helped?

My hats off to Tinley, they took care of business!

Weak sectional? Any other sectional that they would of put MFVE that year would of been considered weak. Besides you should know that a team can’t control that. You can only wrestle whoever they put in front of you.

I can't believe they benched all of those starters. Clearly MFVE would've won with their regular lineup. I never knew this happened until now. That sucks for those kids that had a chance to win a Dual championship.

Was it a few injuries, overconfidence by the coaches, a desire to get the "backups" matches (which would seem ridiculous, given the circumstances) or just bad coaching (which could go to overconfidence)?

Every/any coach is capable of making a bad decision here and there, but to hold that many kids out of the championship dual seems foolhardy, to say the least.

It's crazy. They benched 4 state champs in the semis. Were these coaches trying to prove a point?

Not trying to prove a point not bad coaching or anything else you can come up with it's called loyalty to all the kids in the club and keeping your word to the athletes that wanted to participate.that team proved the point in march

Other clubs have had 30 quilifers and had less than 10 placers no champions

If you had an extremely large team couldn't you rack up the most points simply by having the most horses in the most races? Taking that in account - best team ever: Team Eagle = 100% Champions. (that was a 1 man team who won a state championship, I guess he would practice with various clubs I guess, well connected in the wrestling community. I don't know that much about - that is what I heard.)
