Grow the Sport - a way for ALL of us to help

Raise your hand if you've got old wrestling shoes with some tread left on the tires... okay you can put your hands down now.

USA Wrestling is promoting an effort to build the youth wrestling culture in Guatemala. They need donations of shoes, singlets and other equipment to assist the effort.

I'm sure we can all rid our closets of some non-sentimental stuff no one fits in any longer. Whaddaya say?

My sons are helping coordinate the effort. We hope to set up a central deposit location nearby in the Chicagoland area. More details to follow. There are plenty of other ways to assist the effort as well.

Here's the info from their website:

Donate Your Wrestling Gear
Guatemala’s national wrestling federation is starting a youth wrestling program to help develop their next generation of leaders.

Violence, crime, drugs and poverty all pull at the lives of Guatemala’s youth. Wrestling instills the attributes of courage, hard work, perseverance and humility that will help them resist and overcome these challenges and develop their future leaders.
United World Wrestling has asked USA Wrestling for Peace to help Guatemala with this mission and provide new or used wrestling gear to help develop the program.

The Guatemala National Wrestling Federation has asked for:
Wrestling shoes
Singlets, shirts and shoes
Wrestling mats
Equipment

Sounds like some of these kids would be better off here in the good ole USA!
Even if it means skipping a line, crossing a river or ducking a count! Amirite? Sure you would if you thought it best for yours. Amitite?

"For the rest, send wrestling shoes... even the girls"
-In what what I imagine to be GroasNoise' voice.

Watch L.B.G.T pounce.
*will explain after they do.

Seems like you want to help.

Should we pick up from Oak Park or Romeoville?

Your Nike shoes are better off burned. I wouldn't suggest anyone wear Nike.

Or your basement.
Either works

So you have no donations beyond some cryptic stupidity?

If I suggested Oak Park and Romeoville and then you throw in "my basement" for consideration as well, "either" is no longer grammatically applicable.

Just write "bump to top" like a normal person.

Furthering what effort? Day-drinking? This is... early for most.

I get it, this is a public message board. If you have something to add to the topic at hand or even some other ad hominem comment, try English and coherent sentences if you want to be understood.

If you DON'T, carry on.

A great man once said: "English, motherf---er! Do you speak it?"

Harsh words for a man who threw the first stone with the Romeoville/OP comment. They lived in OP. Parents want to put their kids in the best place possible for their kids to succeed. Do you regret moving your kid to Montini? What is the other option? Fake a divorce so he could obtain a different address to make his kids eligible to compete? Who cares? Matches were wrestled, state championships won or lost. And nothing from the IHSA. You are training in one of (if not the best) rooms in the country. Can we just all root for IL wrestlers at Fargo? This is the time of year we should all come together. People make mistakes. We all do our time, deal with the consequences and move on.
