Competition was good.... that may have been the only good part of the entire day. Well except for coming home a bracket board.

You get what you pay for!!!!

I felt like it was Back to the Future yesterday. Tournament on paper/bout sheets, calling all senior kids to head table/mosh pit and assigning mats by hand not what we have come to expect from elite tournament. 290 kids last match ended at 5:50 PM, yes competition was good, awards were excellent, venue was fine but tournament ran poorly to say the least.

Ambrose, Ambrose paging John Ambrose.

Manual tourneys can run fine, I volunteered at one that is well known as a great tourney. They were experienced and did not want to mess with what worked. Automated are great when done right, they are a big problem when not done right(ie, not enough computers, no backup)...I was there during the learning curve and it was problematic.

Refs were horrible indeed. The tatted ref, however, was one of the better ones and was standing up for one of his fellow refs it looked like. Not sure if he was in the right or wrong.

The tatted ref was really good.

I really do like the old guy as a person on mat 5. Very good man, but it probably is time for him to hang up his whistle. He just can’t do it anymore. Probably about 20 to 30 missed pins, b/c he can’t move around at all.
