I didn’t see him listed as a Illinois. Wouldn’t he be also a Illinois guy ?

Devin Kane's family moved to Georgia some years ago.

Did Fresno's Hokit used to be an Illinois kid? He should be the poster child for big boy wrestling. Plays football and wrestles for Fresno State. Complete stud. Amazed more is not made of him from a marketing perspective.

Shouldn't Rutgers' Gravina be considered an Illinois kid?

Wasn't someone on another thread (I believe it was a HS thread) complaining/talking about clubs taking credit or claiming that kids were from their club, so they 'built' this kid (etc.) ?

Are we now going to have clubs "claiming" kids in the NCAA's are from this or that club when that kid moved out of state even before HS etc.?

Do their HS coaches or current college coaches deserve any credit?

On your earlier post you listed top NIU performers and the Ohio kid is Josh Wooton, but you also missed Sam Hiatt (current DeKalb Head Coach) and Mike Grimes who were round of 12 guys. In 2003, I believe we finished either in or just outside the top 20 beating some top 15 schools that year in Mizzou, CMU, and Ohio State with a co-MAC championship. That was my senior year. That was their peak year and the program has never come close to that level.

We all see the same thing looking from the outside. I think what separates NIU from UNI or CMU is how invested the Athletic Department is in the program. I've always said, if there was a change at the top, I think the administration would be surprised how things could change. At this point, I'm happy they have a program.
Definitely an oversight. Sam had a great career for the Huskies and one really amazing year where he totally could have been on the podium. I'm thinking that was the year that NCAAs were at the Kemper Arena in KC. Really liked that venue. My recollection of Grimes career at NIU is a little fuzzier. I wouldn't have said round of 12 but I'm sure you're right.

There have been a few others that stand out in my mind as really making strides at NIU. Vandiver was one. And you, Mr. Oliva, were another. Just not enough success stories for my liking over the past 20 years.

Yep, Kemper Arena. Grimes was in 05 in St. Louis. Thanks, I was a spoke on the wheel and enjoyed contributing. Chad had a great Greco career that was discouraged by the coaches.

I agree with your assessment 100%.
