The Burk Blog 11/2 - NIU Wrestle Off Results

I am sorry about not writing for a while, but I had a lot on my mind with wrestle offs coming up and everything. But I am just posting the results from tonight right now and will give a full report from the last 2 weeks sometime soon. The results were as follows:

125 - Weinert decisioned Castillo 5-4
133 - Vandiver decisioned Early 4-3
141 - Wooten decisioned Ruettiger 11-5
149 - Grimes decisioned Knull 5-4
157 - Owen decisioned Wallace 5-3
165 - Galloway pinned Nelson (Nelson was winning by a point with about 45 seconds left and got caught in a cradle)
174 - Danny Burk decisioned McClone 4-1
184 - Duke Burk decisioned Herrera 2-1
197 - Hunsinger decisioned Panayi 5-4
285 - Sapp decisioned Mahalik 8-3

Most of the matches were great matches to watch. Only a couple were mismatches. My team, the black team, pulled off the upset of the red team 18-15 in the dual portion of it. I would just like to thank all of those who came out to watch and support and to those who are willing to read what Danny and I write. It means a lot to know that there are so many people in Illinois who care about Illinois wrestling and wrestlers. Thank you. Peace

Was definitely a fun night of wrestling, congrats to the Burk brothers. I was definitely impressed with Aaron Owen, he looks much improved from last year. Weinert shocked the heck out of me by beating Castillo, he is quite the scrambler and rider! Knull, Payani and Nelson looked very good in defeat...

Like Duke said all the weights were very close outside of HWT and 141. I think many of these weights aren't decided until the opens come along...
