Glad you caught the Nolf - Joseph matchup. Haha! The guys like Marinelli, Joseph and Wick who wrestle their college season will have a tough time getting a good seed much less going deep into the Olympic Trials competition.

Its seems like NCAA heavyweights are almost always undersized now. Probably because they have to train the same way as smaller people. I am surprised that the ufc has a 265 cut off when all Nfl linemen are 300lbs.

There is no reason to be over 265. I am glad the era of the slob heavyweight is coming to an end.

I noticed that IMAR wasn't given a matchup for the 74kg bracket at the Continental Cup. That created a mystery. I think I've solved it. There's a tweet from the IRTC from a couple of days ago indicating that IMAR will be wrestling on Saturday.

79kg begins their qualification matches on Saturday. There are no other American athletes at 79kg.

I'm thinking that IMAR will be in the 79kg bracket. Am I right? I don't know.

IMAR in the Finals! Whoop! Looks like he gets the Russian Sanakoev. He wrestled Burroughs a couple years ago in the World Cup. Sanakoev won the first period, but JB levelled him after that. He was also runner-up at Russian Nationals. Kind of meat and potatoes guy, but has a pretty quick bootscoot to an outside single. Always looking to tie up.

Was this the tournament that Jimmy Kennedy won and first place included a car?

IMAR brings home a silver medal and some other swag. No car. Here is what the IRTC tweeted:

@Imar165 drops his finals match. Bringing home some rubles and some good data. Forget the mistake. Remember the lesson.
Medlin is Yoda.

Sanakoev has been wrestling at 79kg for over a year now. Since the finals took place in the afternoon, that could've meant nine additional pounds. Hope to see the video!

Finally, I did some research on Jimmy Kennedy's win that included a car in the prize package. I'm almost certain it was the same tournament, but it was called the Intercontinental Cup back then. Also, the prize of a car was a one-time thing, and it was only awarded to the winner of one weight class.

No one can compete with Jordan this year... Sorry all hopefuls.

JMO (Just my opinion)

This would be a Bada** Day Tournament.... Where is it being held again?

It should be at the Assembly Hall, but the Olympic Trials will be at Penn State. You are correct about that being a Bada** Tournament. 74kg alone is worth the price of admission.

As for IMAR competing against Burroughs, he has already established that he can. You could say he came within eight seconds of beating him for the spot at the last Final X. I'm sure Burroughs would've wrestled differently in the second match if he had lost the first, but you never know.

As long as IMAR stays healthy, he will continue to improve. Good health to your favorite wrestlers as well!

Are there any wrestlers in America more exciting than IMAR and Kamal Bey? They will try anything. Think about IMAR losing all that weight to try to wrestle at 65kg in the Olympics as a sophomore, or Bey going the OTC route right out of high school, kind of Greco's Lebron James. Plus, they are known for pace and scoring points. Sometimes high amplitude points.

It is a great honor for me to introduce a new award in American amateur wrestling: The Hold My Beer Award. The accounting firm of Price-Waterhouse has tabulated the ballots. Drum roll, please …

Here are the results from the IRTC's Casino Night. As you can see, Emery Parker is finishing up a Master's degree and still has it, and hasn't lost it. Will he wrestle freestyle? IMAR and Bey combined for 32 beautiful points. Great idea from the IRTC braintrust, and what good sports we have in Bey and IMAR to stick their toes in somebody else's deep end of the pool. Great way to start a season!

GO IRTC/IMAR!!!
