What's in the news?

Its early in the offseason, but what's in the news?
Aurora Christian forced to 2a due to success factor?
Marian Catholic eligible to go down to 2a? Marist and DeKalb will be on the fringe of 2a/3a with the new configurations. Will Mt. Carmel be eligible for 2a? Marmion lost a ton will they be a top 15 team? The whole Marmion regional lost a lot to graduation.

Washington VS Dekalb in 2A would be interesting. Not sure who will have what...

The 2A cutoff is 1600, DeKalb has over 1800. We’re in 3A.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe with the class adjustments 8 schools will go from 3a to 2a and 8 schools will go from 2a to 1a. Below are the 8 schools that would go from 3a to 2a based on last years enrollment (remember classes are based off the previous school years enrollment)

Riverside (R.-Brookfield) 1615
Deerfield (H.S.) 1622
Oak Lawn (Richards) 1624
Chicago (Marist) 1628 2686.20 (Multiplier)
Hampshire 1636
Crete (C.-Monee) 1638
East Moline (United) 1665
Normal (Community West) 1673

Now a few things to remember; 1) these are last years enrollments, those numbers will change. 2) there will be success factors, multipliers and petitions up. 3) The rumor is that the Rockford schools are co-oping to make 2 teams instead of 4, that will change the numbers a little bit if that is true.

You asked to be corrected. 14 teams will go down to 2A. Therefore 28 teams will go down to 1A. Enrollments are now based on a 2 year period. Multipliers are now based on a 2 year period. Add a schools enrollment from the last 2 years then divide by 2.

The enrollments for next year are already established as are the classifications and cutoffs, minus the movement of non-boundary schools that are subject to success factors.

Craig Anderson stated at last weekends IWCOA banquet, he needs to hear from a couple CPS schools and then they will be releasing the classifications for winter sports. The enrollments used will be based off prior year in order to get classifications out in time.
