Yes he did, I was matside with Weston Church during the championship match. By the end of the second period it was obvious that Preston was in Westonís head and had him broke mentally. Weston is a tough physical wrestler but I think he had enough. The 58 elite bracket was strange, those kids never wrestled their first match until noon or something silly like that?

Lots of upsets yesterday at JD. several studs didnít look like themselves. Iím not sure if I attribute it to an actual lack of matside coaching or the mental intimidation of not having a coach, possibly the large venue?? Still scratching my head in a few of the matches.

55 was like that too. They called the whole group twice and then sent them back. First matches were around 11:30 I think. They were already handing out awards for other brackets. But, the whole bracket has to go through it, so it's whatever. I know my guy had a pretty rough day. Obviously not speaking for anyone else, but I think the biggest affect the no coaching had on him was simply the encouragement through the match. That and bronchitis - which is a pretty epic dad fail on my part.

I like most of those picks. Throw Damon Glenn in at 52, Hunter Brandon will be in the mix at 62. I think 66 goes quite a bit differently. I see Davis Venters and Andrew Jones battling it out in finals, Venters beat Sonon Hale at FF if I remember right. Jones and Venters are 1/1 for the year but I think Venters pulls it off in 8U Elite.

Just my $.02

43 lbs. Lorenzo Flores - Landon Ramsey - Deklyn Thompson - Keithin Rice

46 lbs. Connor Collins - Cale Dauber - Gabriel Poyer - Thomas Blanke

49 lbs. Zander Hollis - Issac Showalter - Cole Lemberg - Kardias Richardson

Just from what I've observed throughout the season, there's lot of talent at these weight classes.

Serious question: do you see the insanity behind ranking kids at this age, especially ones who barely break 40 pounds?

Agreed. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. 43 lbs. God help us. Maybe we can make a 37 lbs weight class. Who knows, maybe there is one already. LOL. In all seriousness, what I mean to say is that I get a kick out of watching the little guys wrestle as much as the next guy, but come on. Get a hold of yourselves. You seriously have to ask yourself, do you have a problem ? Ranking 40 pounder's.
