IntersInterstate 55 leads to.the top 55

Let's turn our attention to a positive note about wrestling for once. Let's end the year with great news. This Friday and Saturday in the Land of Lincoln, the largest high.school wrestling tournament in the country will take place: ABE'S RUMBLE. 55 teams will compete in a dual team tournament. That's right, 55 of the top Class A teams in Illinois. Hats off to POTRA Coach Jeff Hill and Auburn Coach Matt Grimm for putting this together and promoting this event. Tourney starts Friday at 9:00am in Springfield at the BOS Center. Directions: Take I55 to watch the TOP 55.

Largest high school dual team tournament. Is there another dual team tournament that is bigger?

NHSCA Duals in Virginia Beach is usually 175+ full teams, AAU scholastic Disney Duals is probably 125+ teams (but divided into several groups)

These aren't in season high school tournaments.

As you said both of those are out of season. In addition, while they have high school divisions they arenít all single school teams. Many (if not most) teams are made up of a mix of kids from multiple schools.

Coal City has attended this tournament from itís inception. They were moving to Class AA for this year only then back down to Class A next year. It made more sense to keep them in the tournament for this one year as a AA school before they drop back to Class A.
