Predictions for Regionals

What teams will surprise? Individuals to watch for? Not enough chatter for the week before regionals.

Savannah Regional Guesses

I think I'll start with the Savannah regional because it seems to be the toughest.

If results follow latest IWOCA rankings ...

106: Herbst (Oregon), Blakely (Dak.), White (LWS)
113: Milliman (Oregon), Rice (LWS), Nevills (WC)
120: Sutherland (Dakota), Rille (LWS), Hartman (WC)
126: Doty (WC), Rude (Newman), Roby (LWS)
132: Paul (Oregon), McPeek (LWS)
138: Alber (Dakota), Tunink (Newman), Meenen (RF)
145: Hermann (LWS), James (RF), Cark (Oregon)
152: Ivey (Newman)
160: Harmston (LWS), Nardin (Dakota)
170: Wenzel (Dakota), Dvorak (LWS), Newman (Newman)
182: Dertz (WC), Eder (Byron)
195: Ingram (Byron), Nelson (RF)
220: Lind (Byron), Mulvaney (RF)
285: Kuehl (LWS), Elsbury (Byron)

Dakota: 3 Champs, 2 2nd, 1 3rd
LWS: 3 Champs, 4 2nd, 2 3rd
Oregon: 3 champs, 1 3rd
Byron: 2 champs, 2 2nd,
WC: 2 champs, 1 3rd
Newman: 1 champ, 2 2nd, 1 3rd
RF: 3 2nd, 1 3rd

Who flips the script? If Elsbury redeems the UTB loss to Kuehl, Oregon could end with 4 champs! Is that enough to shock LWS and Dakota?

Who throws the rankings upside down and comes out of nowhere? I really have no idea who survives this blood bath, but I will say there is very little room for error!!!

I think Dakota Nation is going to surprise and have a great day of wrestling and win it all! Should be an exciting team battle for 1st either way!

I think Dakota is the likely favorite so I do not think it would be a surprise. Dakota's schedule will have them more than ready for 1A wrestling. The biggest unknown is how the weight classes without big names turn out. The regional title may be determined by the bonus points of the studs and which "regular Joe's" step up to the challenge.

One thing is for sure ... it will be exciting!

What are thoughts if Dakota and Lena had a dual rematch? Dakota was missing 3 wrestlers I believe. Would Dakota win?

I think a full strength Dakota beats a full strength Lena. The difference makers in the regional will be the hammers from other schools peeing in the cheerios of Dakota and/or Lena wrestlers AND which team has the most role players winning a few matches here and there.

Your thoughts?

If AC has a full team no one will beat them at sectionals

The Savanna Regional will not meet AC in the sectional, but I think AC is definitely the team to beat.

LWS is definitely the favorite in the regional. Not taking anything away from Dakota but they did meet and it was a 26 point difference. That is a lot of points to make up even with the missing starters. We

Lena would be a small favorite. I think it could be decided by the coin flip. Who had to present first, could possible decide a rematch.
