I forgot about Gregerson. What an upset when he lost twice at state. I forgot that this was after they went to 4 making state. I was amazed at how Colin Holler injured his shoulder in his semi-final at sectional with Langenderfer, and was still able to take 3rd, basically wrestling with one arm.

Gregerson was not the 4th stud at that weight. Gregerson losing twice was not an upset that year.

Same year, 2011, 2A 119: 1. George Fischer (Marmion); 2. Alphonso Vruno (Sandwich); 3. Adam Wyeth (Yorkville) from the Yorkville Regional and Lincoln Way West Sectional.

Yeah, he was probably the 1st or 2nd stud, if anything. And the first loss was a huge upset, considering he was majoring the other wrestler and well on his way to teching him when he got caught and pinned. I believe he injury defaulted in wrestle backs but am not positive.

The 4th place finisher that year beat Holler, Whitford, Cooper & Dardanes in his h.s. career before beating Gregerson in the wrestlebacks.

That's quite a list of wins. I remember when Whitfird was gonna be the greatest of all time. Never did jump on that train.

Yes he was.
That 2A Marmion/ Montini rivalry during that timeframe was a lot of fun to watch.

Also at the sectional... Blake Montella (Minooka) who was in the Blood Round at the State Tournament the year before. That same year he beat a State Runner-Up in the Blood round of Sectionals to get to state.
