I'd imagine, they both remember that quite well??

JCA is probably a year or two away. There is not a single senior on the roster and qualified 14 wrestlers for sectionals. Cumbee is building a powerhouse program at JCA.

I would like to think Rice is on its way up as well. Regional champ team only had 2 seniors wrestle regionals, and also was missing an injured wrestler at 132 who will be back next year. 8 frosh/sophs wrestled regionals and 5 advanced. All 4 juniors advanced. Id expect them to make the quarters this year and be a threat to place top 3 next year. Glad to see a lot of parity in 2A this year and hoping next year there is even more.

Nice to see. In looking at JCA, They had 3 frosh qualify for sectionals( 106,120,220) and 7 sophs qualify (113,126,132,170,182,195,285). Future is definitely bright for the Hilltoppers. The other 4 qualifiers were Juniors.

Cumbee is doing a great job over there! Hear they have some good ones coming in next year too. Always great to see another program growing strong!

We shall see

Congrats to JCA- they have never been a factor in wrestling so good to see. That being said a couple notes:
1. They won the Rich East Regional... not exactly stacked with talent
2. Can they sustain getting the talent in from club where most wrestlers coming from? Remember there is guy on JCA staff that had this same formula at numerous other Catholic schools and eventually the 💩catches up to them.
3. Id say next year is their true shot
4. Petition up to 3A and compete with many of the other Catholic schools

Time will tell but right now I would say the arrow is heading up for JCA and see no reason why that will change. Definitely a place to consider if you are considering going to a private school.

Ha! What a backhanded compliment that ends with once you get good enough please go to 3A to compete with the other catholic schools. But lets face it, catholic school or not, I dont think one 2A team would make it to Bloomington this year (or most years for that matter) if they petitioned up to 3A.

Washington would have made it to Bloomington many of the past 5 years. Maybe not this year, but then again they would have.
