1937 - 2020 IHSA State Finals Medalists

1937 - 2020 IHSA State Finals Medalists

I created this using Microsoft Power BI a few years ago and updated it this morning to include last night's results. Let me know if there are other analysis you would like to be able to do or if you would like the data set to add in to your own data visualization tools.

But if you do, I ask you freely share the results here as I have done.

Matt

Thumbs up

Thank you. This should be a sticky on the home page of this site and any other that wants to cover IL hs wrestling.

I'm sure this will be used by folks that will never post in this thread, so thank you for them too.

Excellent work! Well done and thank you for donating your time and sharing with the wrestling community! The history of our sport is very important and this tool provides a quick lookup. We need more positive stuff like this being posted.

That is much better than the IHSA system. In your data - it shows that 5, 9, 8 of the winners were not Seniors = 3a,2a,1a. I wonder what the odds are of winning a 2nd championship if you have won one. 33% ? I mention that because it is an argument against schools like Montini where it might take you 3 years to crack the starting starting line up. My kids went to a school kinda like that, but not Montini, and JV kids had winning records like 12-4, senior year but were not starters...but if you do go and make it, obviously that is an advantage also.

Awesome

Awesome stuff, thank you! Looking back at my alma mater, Chicago Heights Marian Catholic...
1978-2007 = 7 medalists, 2 finalists, and 1 champion.
2008-2020 = 25 medalits, 13 finalists, and 6 champions.
