Nice list. What about #4 Real Woods (141) Stanford?

Ugh I forgot because he's originally from New Mexico, will add him. I feel he should count towards Illinois when articles are written about state representation at the NCAA tournament. He wrestled all four years of high school in Illinois and benefited greatly from the training he received in Illinois. Just like I think Blair kids who wrestled all four years at Blair should go towards New Jersey.

Got to toss TFM in there as he's starting for Purdue at 133 currently. I think he could be a dark horse qualifier if he has a good Big10 Tournament

You have Luke Luffman two categories too low as a "Starter" when he should be listed as "Likely NCAA Qualifier."

-- 11-5 record

-- Listed in the first Coach's Ranking

-- Lost to #6 Heavyweight by 4

-- Beat the #30 and #34 Heavyweights.

-- Has better record than Shayne Oster and Yahya Thomas on the "likely" list.

-- Has substantially equal record to Madrigals on the "likely" list.

I do appreciate your efforts and enjoyed the read. Cheers!

P.S. I would also have Wrobo-cop on the dark horse to qualify list. He is improving. His record doesn't rate it yet, but his trajectory is upwards.

The heavier weights seam to have more upsets in the NCAA's. Not ton, but a little more. Also, seams to be more pins, the heavier the weight.

Luffman has not beaten anybody he would need to beat to be considered "likely to qualify", nor has Wroblewski. Keeping a defeat within 4 points generally doesn't count, especially if you have not shown an ability to put any offensive points on the board. Anything is possible, but who would realistically make such a prediction. I'd love to see such success by every wrestler wearing the orange and blue, but it you're a realist you know it's just not likely.

Cameron Caffey MSU 184 was R16 last year as a redshirt freshman. Lots of close losses this year. I'd bump him up to Darkhorse AA.

Danny Braunagel Illini 165 and Zach Braunagel Illini 184 look very good. I'd feel comfortable with them as Darkhorse AA candidates too.

Honestly, I think it'll come down to seeding and who they draw at NCAAs. We saw what a crappy draw did to Marinelli Iowa 165 last year.

Editing to add Kordell Norfleet Arizona 197. If he stays healthy he could place top 4. He's probably looked as good against Kollin Moore as anyone else this year.

I think that the Division One Coaches are being realists, and it is you who is not. They have placed him safely in their rankings, which is a criterion for going to the NCAA Tournament. Luffman has already beaten one heavyweight in the Coach's rankings. He beat another (the #30 guy from Army) who would be on the list if wins that job on the Army team.

Moreover, in his last eight matches Mason Parris has bonused everybody--except Luffman. That includes five pinfalls and a tech and a major. Luffman lost by six, and he came within a fly's reflexes of getting two takedowns on the #2 wrestler in the country. And he's only going to get better.

GO ILLINI!!!
