USA Judo Sr Nationals

Brad Bolen wins the -73kg USA Judo Sr Nationals, beating Max Schneider in the finals despite being down 3 scores with 1:30 left to go. His 5th Sr National title and 4th in a row.

Video from his 3rd match, won with his signature "Bolen Arrow" choke:

This cycle will be fun to watch at 73kgs leading up to 2020 Tokyo.

Congratulations to your son and you! One of the easiest ways to explain the difference between Judo and Wrestling is that they sometimes have an ambulance there on stand-by for judo. Is Max Schneider out of wrestling completely and focusing on Judo? (the year he was 2nd place I think was a great HS finals match)

Max has been out of wrestling for quite a while. He has been training and competing in judo exclusively for the past 3 years.

Brad won't be going for the Olympics in 2020. He's still competing but not travelling overseas as his funding has ended. One of his teammates, Anthony Turner will be. He has already moved up to #35 on the IJF roster. Brad had two really good shots, in 2012 he was ranked #42 at -66kg within 14 points and had he finished 1st or 2nd at the Pan Am Championships that year he would have made it. Got a bad draw, finished 3rd. Leading up to Rio he was ranked #24 at one point, got injured, missed a few months, then couldn't make -66kg anymore. Just the way it goes sometimes.
