IWCOA Announces Hall of Fame Inductees

The Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association will induct nineteen outstanding contributors into its Hall of Fame as member of the Class of 2013. Ceremonies will be held at the Park Place of Countryside, 6240 Joliet Road, Countryside at the 43rd Annual Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, April 20, 2013.

Inductees were also introduced prior to the start of the Friday evening session of the IHSA Individual State Tournament at the Assembly Hall in Champaign on February 15, 2013.

Since 1971 the IWCOA has honored wrestlers, coaches, officials and contributors for their accomplishments in the sport of wrestling. In 1972 this organization created the IWCOA Hall of Fame. Since that time, 506 men and women have been selected to this prestigious group.

2013 Hall of Fame Inductees

Terry Aldridge, Eureka High School, head coach since 1989, over 300 career wins.

Greg Bradley, Mt. Zion. Served as head coach and later became principal at both Illini Bluffs and Mt. Zion. Served on the IHSA Executive Board.

Pat Cheeseman, Mt. Carmel. Head Coach at Mt. Carmel from 1980 through 2007. 344 career wins.

Dan Drosoupolis, Morrison. Head Coach at Morrison High School from 1978 through 2007. 231 career wins with six state finalist and one state champion.

Mark Gardner, Bloomngton. Head Coach at Bloomington High School 1993 through 2010, served as co-head coach the past two years. Teams finished in the final 8 in 2005 and placed 3rd in 2012.

Sam Geraci, Addison. Wrestled for Lake Park High School, 3 time state place winner, State Champion as a sophomore. Career record of 172-9-1.

Jim Harsh, Normal. Officiated over twenty state meets, dual team and individual as well as many IESA and IKWF state meets. Served as assignment chairman for the IESA.

Bryon Hasty, East Peoria. Officiated in over 12 state tournaments, missing many opportunities while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Gary Hunt, Licking, MO. Long time coach at Decatur Lake View. Developed the IKWF organization in the Decatur area. Served on the IHSA Advisory Committee.

Mark Kristoff, Bethalto/SIU-Edwardsville. State Champion at Civic Memorial High School. Wrestled for his father, Larry, at SIU-Edwardsville, was a four time NCAA Div. II place-winner, capturing an NCAA Championship as a senior.

Frank Laccone, DeKalb/Purdue Univ. Wrestled for DeKalb High School, was a four time state qualifier and three time place winner. Won the state title his junior year. Two time NCAA Div. I National qualifier.

Bob Nesbit, Springfield. Head wrestling coach at Springfield High School since 1984. 310 career wins, two regional team titles, 1993 sectional championship. Teams won 12 City Championships and 3 conference titles.

Jeff Pape, Schaumburg. Selected as 2009 IWCOA Man of the Year. Member of the National Hall of Fame and Museum-Illinois Chapter Selection Committee. Owner of

Mark Pustelnik, East Moline/University of Northern Iowa. Three time state place winner, State Champion. Multi time cadet National Place winner and member of World Team. NCAA Division I Qualifier.

Karl Roesler. Providence Catholic/University of Illinois. Three time Illinois State place winner and two time State Champ. Qualified for the NCAA Division I finals three times, placing twice.

Neil Schultz, Harvard. Long time assistant coach at Harvard High School. Involved in developing a program that garnered over 600 wins and one team State Championship.

Jeff Sorensen, Bloomington. Officiate for over 27 years. Has been appointed to officiate 23 individual regionals, 18 individual sectionals, 8 Dual Team state finals and 7 individual state finals.

Mark Trizzino, Joliet (Central)/University of Iowa. Two time state champion. Junior World Freestyle Bronze medalist. NCAA All-American, member of two NCAA Championship Teams.

Jim Walker, Lombard. Coached for 19 years at Westmont and currently serves as an assistant coach at Glenbard East. Entering his 43rd year of involvement in Illinois Wrestling.
