JR: Illinois Freestyle and Greco-Roman “Second Chance” Results

SYCAMORE • Inside the Sycamore High School fieldhouse, Team Illinois hosted its “Second Chance” National Qualifier for this summer’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota. And, although it may take a few days to sort out all the qualifiers via the ILUSA-WR State Championships, all the Regional Championships, and the US Open and other possible qualifiers, those that wrestled Saturday were looking for one more opportunity to wrestle inside of the FargoDome.

For Team Illinois’ “Second Chance,” the only guaranteed placewinner to make the team was the champion at each weight class. In that, all others outside of the top three from the state championship, top six at each regional championship, and the champion from this past weekend, will simply wait and see how the qualifications are allocated and what is, if anything is, still available.

Similarly, some qualifiers, as has happened in the past, may choose not to accept their qualification; thus, opening a spot for someone else.
