LINCOLN, Neb. – Northwestern senior Jameson Oster picked up a big win at Nebraska Friday night on Big Ten Network with a second period fall of the Huskers’ 19th-ranked Anthony Abidin at 141 lbs.
Oster used a nearside cradle to break a 2-2 tie and beat Abidin for the first time in three tries. The two had previously met last year at Northwestern and at the 2015 Big Ten championships. The Northwestern 141-pounder came into the match ranked No. 20 by FloWrestling and 24th in the NWCA Coaches Poll.
“It felt good,” Oster said. “Coming back to get revenge on someone feels good, especially with a pin. Even better.”
No. 8 Nebraska won the overall dual, 39-6.
Four matches were decided by decision, with each of Northwestern’s losses in those bouts coming by four or fewer points to nationally ranked opponents.
Chicago’s Big Ten Team wraps up the 2015-16 dual season with a pair of meets next weekend. The Wildcats celebrate Senior Day on Friday, Feb. 19 against Duke at 7 p.m. and then travel to Madison, Wis. for the season finale at Wisconsin on Sunday, Feb. 21.
The Big Ten Championships take place March 5-6 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City, Iowa.
