Andrew Bejarano, Sr, Plainfield South, 285 – Went 12-0 the last 2 weeks with a Dvorak championship, earning the most pins award, and did not give up a single point in the tournament. Went 6-0 at the Flavin and had a pin vs LWW. Had wins against 3A #1 Justin Hull of St Charles East, 3A HM Mike McNicholas of Montini and falls against 1A #4 David Vargas of IC Catholic and Cobie Underwood of Moline.
Dylan Burnoski, Sr, Montini, 132 – Won the Dvorak as the #3 seed beating #2 ranked Ohio wrestler Casey Wiles and majoring undefeated #1 seed Danny Pucino 14-5. Three of his wins were falls under 30 seconds.
Bryan Caves, So, Port Byron Riverdale, 195 – Went 9-0 at Abe’s Rumble. Bumped up to 220 and pinned #1 ranked Chad Grimm of Beardstown in the first period.
Trevor Chumbley, Sr, Marmion, 145 – Beat Joshua Saunders of CBC who is ranked #4 in the nation and won OW at the Granite City Tournament.
Ezra Elliott, Sr, Hoopeston Area, 138 – Went 8-0 at Abe’s Rumble bumping up to 145 including a 14-0 major over Oliver Willis of Chicago Hope, 18-2 tech over Jason Hermann of Lena-Winslow (HM at 145), fall over Jonathan Foote of Camp Point, and a 17-2 tech over Alex Maguire of Roxana (#2 at 145).
Michael Leveille, Sr, Marist, 113 – Took 1st place at the 58th annual Granite City Holiday Tournament going 8-0 over the two days with 5 pins. Beat Missouri’s #6 ranked Jalin Reese, Missouri’s #1 ranked Logan Ferrero, and 2A runner-up Abe Hinrichson of Washington in the finals.
Luke Luffman, Sr, Urbana, 285 – Improved his record to 23-0 this weekend winning the Lincoln Holiday Tournament. He had 5 pins wrestling only 7 minutes and 28 seconds and beating Xavier Sanchez from Antioch in the finals with a pin in 1:43. No points were scored against Luke in the five matches.
