A lot of is garbage, but c'mon you gotta give credit to Biggie, Tupac, Bone Thugs, Ludacris, Outkast those guys are all brilliant. There are a few others but those are the main ones in my book. They have lyrics that actually have substance and don't just talk about "the way I live" or "why I'm hot" or how their "chain hang low". That's what gets me sometimes is the rap that is just about having material things. You know it is only popular cause it has a good beat and gets people dancing, you could put any lyrics to it and it wouldn't matter.

They want fast pace songs, with catchy hooks.

Side Note, please everyone dont make a wrestling song. Terrible concept, just sounds really corny. i love the sport, but lets not put the sport in the studio, much better suited for the mats.

Not top artists, just top hip-hop artists. I know Luda does have his share of pointless songs, but many good ones as well. Even the dumb ones are at least creative. Good point about selling, Talib Kweli has been writing great lyrics with good beats for awhile now and most people probably have still never heard of him.

Have to agree with your side note as well. The closest thing to a wrestling song I like is A New Level by Pantera. Look up the lyrics, it's almost as if it was written for wrestlers. Plus it gets you pumped up too. I won't post the link for lyrics cause there are a few choice words here and there and I want to stay on admin's good side, ;) just do a google search.
