PC still has guys out from football. Later in the year PC would still smash NV. PC nearly won with 4 starters out.

PC was preseason ranked #1 but last weekend lost the Conant tournament to Oak Park-River Forest the pre season #2.

Posting second at a tournament is not the same as losing a dual.
PC didn't directly wrestle Oak Park.
I wonder if the Mt. Carmel varsity can beat the PC freshmen.

Settle down Fishboy, and you better hope those are some little football players coming back, because I don't care who is coming back from football, I don't see them winning against Nequa from 160-215.

Congrats to Nequa! they wrestled pretty tough got the victory. A couple of key matches was 103lbs where PC just did not needed to get pinned and bam he did. Also, the 189lber from PC is like a 3 year varsity wrestler or something and he got pinnned with seconds left. That does not sound like a Coach Healy team. I wonder if the rankings got to their head. I know Healy would do his best to make sure they did not read into the press clippings but obviously the kids are. they need to wake up and realize they are not going to win by name alone! Everybody needs to do their job during the dual whether it is getting pins when they need to or not getting pinned! There is still a long season ahead of us! it willl be interesting to see how Rockton Honne. and Marian do against PC tonight.

Were the Providence footballers out playing ball against Adam Stine and Matt Walters by any chance?
"PC nearly won with 4 starters out."
Really? Neuqua Valley DID win with two of their BEST starters out AND their soph 130 wrestling up at 135 against a probable high state placer... I think I'd sit on my typing hands on this issue if I bled green...
Better idea: let's all celebrate a great dual meet that happened to have gone the way of the school I root for and could easily go the way of Providence in any subsequent meeting. Great wrestling on tap last night.

Stop making excuses for them! That doesn't say allot for the team if they are that star struck over being the top ranked team. It oviously didn't faze Nequa since they went out there and reminded them that rankings are only that and don't really mean anything! Cudos to Nequa for stepping up to the challenge!!

I am in no way a providence fan, but it doesnt look like the poster was making excuses... Nequa and STC E tonight... Could be closer than people think. Depends on the matchups. I am guessing Nequa will win, but I think match wise it will be 8-6...

Hardcore I think you must of struggled in Reading Comprehension because in my last post there was not any excuses. I said the PC wrestlers must be reading their clippings and so not pushing themselves right now. I love the fact that you just jumped right in after you read my post before actually thinking about what I said. Hey I know a good tutor and we can fix the Comprehension part no problem. In fact I will make sure my guy does not charge you full price because I feel sorry for you! Well, instead of reading wonderful remarks by wonderful people I have to back to work. Wait............. what is work. Some of you that know me are laughing right now!

anyone who was at the meet can verify if PC just played the edge like they normally do? maybe the reason why they lost. a better team came in and out wrestled them. i am not surprised at all by this lost. i always thought PC was overrated, there are a lot of good teams out there and i think there is going to be a lot of excuses from the PC fans.

Be kind people. Don't kick SR or PC. We are only a couple weeks into the season. I have yet to see a SR or PC wrestler, coach or fan come on the site talking, predicting, bragging or taking pot shots. Let's not eat our own. I am sure their kids are working hard.

Providence's footballers will get better and so will everyone else.
Providence has fallen off...you have got to be kidding. Don't think for a second that Providence still isn't one of the best teams in the state. Right up there with Neuqua, Minooka, West Aurora, Lockport, Plainfield Central and OPRF. Any one of these teams can beat the other on any given night, depending how the matchups fall.
It's nice to see the parity in AAA should make for some passionate discussions.
Congratulations Neuqua for their first victory over Providence ever!!!

Still sound like an excuse, and I was an English major. It's one thing to state a fact (football players have only had three days of practice), but quite another to speculate that they "must be reading their clippings and ... not pushing themselves right now." ??? Or was it that the sun was in their eyes?

Talking-no, Predicting-no, Boasting-yeah, it lacks class, and is often distasteful for others. When hs programs have the success, MC, PC, and Montini have had, there is no need to inform everyone how great you are. If they do not know, they probably have bigger problems to concerned with. I have always liked the mantra wrestle like a champion, win like a champion, lose like a champion, and be a champion for life. Too many people boast and brag about the accomplishment and abilities of others which only builds resentment for them and the teams and kids they talk about. When these teams and kids lose, others step in to revel in it. With the losers making excuses and the winners hurling insults. It is funny. I am sure both teams shook hands and congratulated each other and showed more class than the adults on this site. I do not understand how hard it is to congratulate NV for a hard fought and well-deserved victory and still view PC as a real threat for the title. An early tough dual meet like this can only help both program when it really counts. Everyone has a bias. It is good to support and believe in our teams, but do it with a little class. I could have sworn that I heard this in one of your sermons.

112 Klimara (PC) over Cavalaris
119 Cooper (PC) pins Ballow
125 Ambrose (PC) over Ochoa
130 Togher (PC) over ?
135 Wojik (PC) over Barton
140 Spangler (NV) TF over Sterr
145 Cizek (NV) pins Phillips
152 Walsh (PC) over Pigott
160 Proctor (NV) over Grabavoy
171 Burk (NV) over Haney
189 M. Zozulia (NV) over Micheals
215 A. Zozulia (NV) over Sheffer
HWT Laski (PC) over Dawson
103 Robinson (NV) pins Price
to tell you the truth, not excuses, but some facts, micheals, sheffer, and laski, all returning starters, came back from football a week ago, laski is comming off a terrible ankle injury from football, and the three guys were not in wrestling shape. Crnich was out of the lineup at 140 for health reasons, and almost every person on the lineup was bumped up, klimara wrestled 112, not 103, cooper wrestled 119, not 112, ambrose wrestled 125, not 119, which bumped klaver out of the lineup at 125, and haney was supposed to wrestle 160, i dont know if it was either of these items that caused the loss, but it is heart breaking, and after a couple weeks, football players will be healthy and in shape, and everyone is back to normal weights, pc will be the dominant team it is supposed to be.

The facts are illnesses and injuries are part of the sport. Kids' seasons end because of injuries, grades, and personal misconduct every year. Coaches bump kids up and make the matches they think will help their team win and may still do that later in the season. No one has an idea what the line-up will look like. The fact is NV was better on that day and PC lost. Why can you not congratulate NV and just see what kind of team PC fields come tournament time. It is early, just let the season play out.

So how does this work with the non excuses - excuses?
PC held serve from 119 - 135, all guys who bumped up, Laski won and the other two footballers loss to the Zozulia's. Neuqua has 7 - 1st year varsity wrestler in the line-up and only one won. There was no Walters or Stein.
What should Providence have done differently? What makes you think they are head and shoulders above everyone else?
I know of 4 other matchups that could present bigger problems than Neuqua - for a "healthy and in shape" PC.

yes they lost to the Zozulias, but they were pinned, and so was price, the last match, put it this way, klaver would have beat ochoa, ambrose would beat ballow, and cooper would have beat cavalaris, this is saying if they werent bumped up, then instead of price wrestling 103, klimara would have and possibly could have beaten robinson, which would have given pc the win. i know changes are to be made, but if everyone were at their respected weights, pc would have won, also, on a last note, if sheffer or micheals were in shape, they may have not gotten pinned, just teched, majored, or just a regular decision, leaving pc with more points, or if they still got pinned and the lower weights were at their normal weights, pc would have had that last nessisary win from klimara if he was at 103, instead of price.

I understand your point.
I also understand the strategy behind Coach Healy's lineup change. Reminded me of what Neuqua did at PC last year. Only difference was I didn't hear any excuses from Neuqua fans and no one second guessed Coach Ruettiger's decision.
