Holy crap dude, this is from 2005. Please read the thread dates. It's rude to necropost like this.

Yep. It's rude to bring back really, really old threads. These threads were at the bottom for a reason: if no one wanted to post in it since 2005, there's no reason to post in it now.

I disagree on this type of post. It was in a positive manner towards matmen. I applaud him for searching for this and giving his thanks as well.

Well, yes, it was positive towards Matmen, but the thing about this is, are you going to allow every necropost? Are you going to people bring back ancient topics, just because they can't read the thread dates, and want to add in something that brings nothing else to the topic?

It's not written anywhere, it's more or less a matter of etiquette. Every forum that I have been on has not allowed necroposting, because typically, necroposting adds nothing to the thread, and it says what has already been said. Not only that, but it clutters up the top of the forum where people are talking about topics that pertain to right now, not 2005.

Sure am...thats the beauty of this forum compared to other "play by internet rules" forums. Its for wrestling, if something from last year needs to be brought up again for this season, by all means...go search for it and bring it up. Hell, I don't even know what necro...whatever means. It just reminds me that Fright Fest at Six Flags is coming soon and I can't wait for Necropolis!

My bad, I assumed because this was a forum, it would follow similar etiquette guidelines as other forums.

Most forums have a set amount of time (be it days, weeks, months--whatever it may be) that if a topic is not posted in that set time, it is considered "dead". When someone posts in that "dead" topic, it is "necroposting", because it is "bringing it back from the dead".

my bad, sry if i offended anyone. I googled IM, since this is a different computer it isnt favorated, but when I googled it, this was the thread that came up. I didnt look at the date, that may have been my problem. Beside if it was dead, then why is it still on the forum. If you haven't looked there are 4 pages in AA alone. So if it still here isnt it viable. Once again I have only her for a month and a half, so I am still learning the unwritten rules, and the 2 official ones I know., i think.

I think the other forums need to follow our etiquette because for the most part it's been good.

It's dead, meaning it hasn't been posted in a long time. It would only be gone if the Admin allowed for auto trim.

Which we don't need to do. As dawg said, no harm, no foul. We're a happy family here on IM (for the most part) no need to follow other sites weird internet rules.

Seek, explain to us why you posted 6 times on thread that you say should be dead. For your punishment you must watch all Notre Dame football games for the rest of the year.

I am not complaining, I am just stating what some people call torture is what other people like me call being a die-hard. Between the Cubs of last year and ND of this year, I am getting a crash course in it.

The "official" word here is that a post thanking the Admin. and illinoismatmen is timeless; thus, resurrecting an old post is ok; no harm no foul. Play ball!
