Illinois lived up to the #2 Ranking Nationally by Finishing 2nd to 2x Defending National Champion #1 Oklahoma State. Former IHSA wrestlers in the Illini Line-up made us proud: Pero, Deitzen, Reynolds, Friedl, Glynn, Bryd, Behnke. All wrestled well, but I was most impressed with Reynolds. He pinned Oklahoma, beat #7 Nagle (Minnesota 8-4) and lost in closing seconds to #3 Hendricks (Oklahoma State 4-3). In the final, he was in control of the match 3-1 with 48 seconds remaining. A couple of questionable stalling calls made the match 3-2. Then he shot a nice hi-crotch (about 18 seconds left) and was in good position to extend the lead and injured his ankle giving up the takedown to Hendricks. He could not escape in the final few seconds. Does anyone know the extent of the injury (he could barely walk). That sucks... another set-back after overcomming major knee surgery. First Martin, now Reynolds. Tough breaks for Illini. Great Job Men.... Good Luck the rest of the way!!! I love seeing the talent staying HOME!!!
