Depending on the weight, what sectional would you least like to participate in. For example, one sectional could be stacked at 119, 130, 145, 215, but be weak at others, while others may be stong at those weights. Lets hear your thoughts.

I respect the sentiment as I am also a fan of the Oregon sectional but I'd have to say that the Plano sectional is better. MONTINI.... nuf said.

Plano 215 - Vercelli, Goebel, Nasti, Gminski

Oregon 152 - Blanton, Pieritz, Kuebel, Graybill

In both cases somebody that should go to Champaign won't.

I would have to agree that whatever sectional Montini is in, will be tough, BUT Montini can't send three guys to state at each weight, therefore you can't say its the toughest because of one team. At the Oregon sectional, I would have to say 119, 125, 152, 171, and 189 are all going to be weights that people would rather be at another sectional for, for the pure fact of the number of quality wrestlers at each weight. NOt saying other sectionals won't be tough at those weights, but if I was wrestling, I wouldn't want to be at tose particular weights at that particular sectional. Good Luck to ALL wrestlers Saturday morning and the next three weeks.

I would have to agree that, THIS YEAR, for the 1st time in many years, Oregon is the toughest Sectional. Based on the most current Rankings, the numbers of Top 10(TT) and Best Of The Rest(BOTR) for each Sectional are:
1) Orgeon(O); 54-TT & 11-BOTR
2) Plano(P); 36-TT & 13-BOTR
3) Tolono(T); 28-TT & 6-BOTR
4) Vandalia(V); 20-TT & 10-BOTR
If you want to break it down a little further: figuring just the top 5 rankings at each weight class, the individual weights break down as follows(Sectionals with 2 or more in top 5);
103) 2-T & 2-P
112) 2-T & 2-O
119) 3-O & 2-P
125) 2-O
130) 2-0
135) 2-P & 2-O
140) 2-P & 2-O
145) 2-P
152) 4-O
160) 2-P & 2-V
171) 2-O
189) 2-T & 2-O
215) 4-P
275) 2-V & 2-O
Now if you want to look at the Top 10(TT) and Best Of The Rest(BOTR) at each weight, the break down for each Sectional is:
103) 3-T, 3-V, 2-O, 2-P
112) 3/1-O, 3/1-P, 3/O-T, 1/2-V
119) 5/3-O, 4/0-P, 1/1-T
125) 3/2-O, 3/2-P, 3/0-T, 1/2-V
130) 4/0-O, 3/1-P, 2/0-T, 1/1-V
135) 3/2-P, 4/0-O, 2/0-V, 1/0-T
140) 5/0-O, 2/1-P, 2/1-T, 1/1-V
145) 5/0-O, 3/1-P, 1/2-V, 1/0-T
152) 5/0-O, 3/1-V, 1/2-T, 1/0-P
160) 4/2-O, 2/1-P, 3/0-V, 1/0-T
171) 4/1-T, 3/1-O, 2/0-P, 1/0-V
189) 4/0-T, 4/0-O, 1/2-P, 1/1-V
215) 5/1-P, 4/1-O, 1/0-T
275) 3/1-O, 3/0-T, 2/1-P, 2/0-V
The numbers are pretty consistent; Oregon and Plano, with the exception of maybe 3-4 weights, are both much tougher Sectionals than Tolono or Vandalia by a large margin. Good Luck to all at Regionals and Sectionals.

I know you put a lot of time into this, but you state top 5 in the first list. Well shouldn't you have 5 wrestlers listed at each weight class? AND your second list top 10 + BOTR only adds up to 10 in each weight class. Maybe I am missing something? Each weight class there adds up to 10, that wouldn't include the BOTR, right?

"I know you put a lot of time into this, but you state top 5 in the first list. Well shouldn't you have 5 wrestlers listed at each weight class?" No, I only showed the Sectionals that had 2 or more in the top 5 at each weight class.

"AND your second list top 10 + BOTR only adds up to 10 in each weight class. Maybe I am missing something?" No again, the only weight that had only 10 was 103- there were no BOTR listed for 103.

"Each weight class there adds up to 10, that wouldn't include the BOTR, right?" No a third time- every other weight class, except 103, has 12-16 listed- whatever number their was in the last rankings.

I actually thought Oregon would be farther ahead, but it's still very impressive. Just think if Oregon and Byron were up to their usual standards! Nice work.

I also agree with Steamerfan. One team doesn't make a tournament.
