What makes a diffrence between a good tournament team and a good dual team? I know some teams are better fit for 1 or the other ive been out of the area for a while which teams are better at what this year.

A good dual team has good, solid starters throughout their lineup. A good tournament team has a few outstanding individuals with some mediocre or weak starters. I think a team like Mascoutah would perform better in tournaments with championship points coming the Williams brothers (assuming Kent wrestles better than last night) and Jimmy Perez. Sometimes just having a couple guys place really high can score some big tourney points. Especially if they get a good seed and pin their opponents in the early rounds.

A good example of a better dual team than a tournament team was the 1999-2000 Edwardsville team. They had guys that was just hard to pin and get bonus points against. They had a few pinners of there own to make up the team scores. However, Edwardsville struggled in tournaments that year (i.e. Granite City and Mahomet-Seymour). They beat both Granite City and Belleville West (West went to dual team state) in a dual that year, but could never beat them in a tournament format. They didn't lose a dual that year (I think they had one tie against Vandalia), but lost in the regional to Granite City in tournament style format so they didn't get to participate in the dual team state series.

In connection with the question "tourney team vs. dual team":
I know it has always been the format for dual team state regionals for teams to compete and the winner in overall team form to move on to dual team sectionals. There is a big difference between a good dual team and a good tournament team. I feel like if you want to have a true "Dual Team Sectional", there should be some kind of Dual Team Regional, instead of the winner coming from a regional individual tournament. It seems odd that neighboring cities, such as GC and Eville are in different regionals, which enables them to meet at dual team sectionals. Isn't there a better way to have a true dual team winner represent a sectional at state?
