Montini might as well stay in single A if they still want to be state champs. Sandburg is just unstoppable. I love seeing public schools dominate. It is kind of sad when mommy and daddy pay all of this money for high school wrestling. Then as far as montini goes, those poor kids cannot even get a college scholarship because they are in class A. Every private school should be up there in the rankings if they do their recruiting right. Being an ex college wrestler and a coach I would rather take a 2x state qualifier in AA than a state champ in single A. What is Chase Beebe doing now? I know if you were a 4x state champ in AA you would hear about them still. Those single A schools show no appreciation to each other. When a good wrestler wins state 4x in single A or double the whole place should stand up. Am I right or am I wrong? That shows no pride in the single A. I hope Montini goes to AA those kids deserve it.

What I love is that noone seems to realize that we all pay for the public schools and they actually spend more money per student than any of the privates do...yet people still send their kids to private schools or their kids choose to attend...whats kind of sad really is that in some areas (even though all this money is in the public schools) the schools academics are a joke (many Chicago public schools for example) and the kids really have no choice....so I suggest for the New Year you get off the public vs private thing and let the kids wrestle...noone is paying for their kids to wrestle in high school and every one pays for the public schools (just look at your tax bill) so what is really kind of sad is that we all pay so much attention to this issue

St. Ignatius was there, too. They finished either 32 or 33 with one pin in the champinship bracket and then one major and two pins in the wrestlebacks before their kids were eliminated. I don't know how Dvorak does their scoring, btu if someone knows and can figure out the points, then we'll know.

It's all set out in the rule book:

2 points for each win in the championship bracket (except the championship match).
1 point for each win in the consolation bracket (except the 3rd, 5th, 7th place matches).
1 bonus point for each major decision.
1.5 bonus points for each technical fall.
2 bonus points for each pin, DQ, or default.
double advancement and bonus points if the win follows a bye.
(There are also placement points, but they don't matter in this case.)

St. Ignatius scored 12 points:
125 lbs. - 3 points (pin in consolation)
130 lbs. - 2 points (maj. dec. in consolation)
189 lbs. - 7 points (pin in championship; pin in consolation)

I noticed that on the published brackets, each of these wrestlers were assigned to another team. I hope the tournament managers remembered to deduct 3 points from Cary-Grove, 2 points from Highland Park, and 7 points from Hersey.
