Rumor has it Montinis lineup will be a few wrestlers short this weekend. Half the team is suspended from competing this coming weekend. I guess the suspended wrestlers in question celebrated their win at the clash a little to much (some silly hand signal during pictures) and the coach suspended them from the tournament because of this. Sounds a little heavy handed to me, actually it seems quite ridiculous to suspend them for that. I could understand if they flipped the bird, but they didn’t.

I will go the other way and applaud the coach for standing up to, what many may consider, entitled "elite" athletes.

All too often we see coaches ignore or even encourage behavior that could be detrimental to the team/school until it goes too far and something "really bad" happens.

Besides, it is his program. He will run it as he sees fit.

I see this as the coach establishing his power rather than the kids establishing theirs - as happens all too often, at some places.

Of course, from a fans standpoint it sucks that they may be without some of their wrestlers in a tournament of this calibre.

I heard that Montini has forfeited the rest of the season.
They will not compete the rest of 2018.
