There are plenty of good ways to share video with out of town family without them somehow ending up on the Illinoismatmen.com front page. It wasn't put on the front page because it was a great match. It was put on there because Eddie lost. I'd rather not subject a 14-15 year old to that treatment unless you can't avoid it. Same reason you don't show the dead bodies in a car accident. Yet that's what everybody e-mails each other pictures of sometimes. Post the match, everybody wanted to see it myself included but front page? Way overkill. Is this what every good wreatling kid in Illinois can expect every time they make a mistake? Is it too late to sign up for basketball?
I disagree... It was a great match, and losing is a part of wrestling. Comparing it to dead bodies in a car crash is ludicrous. This is a wrestling website, thus the content (videos) are going to be wrestling. People get beat on video ALL the time. In every match there is a winner and a loser. Just because he was ranked #1, does he deserve special treatment?? No! There are videos posted of matches up here all the time... Guess what!? Somebody in those videos is always a loser, and I have never seen anyone else complain about it... It is a part of the sport. This has to be the dumbest thread ever in my opinion.

Ummmm... because you chose wrestling as your sport... and when you lose, people see it. That is the choice you make when you become a wrestler.

People whose kids will never be good enough to be #1 aren't going to get this. I understand.

Now we here at illinoismatmen.com may of made a mistake or we may not of. The good of this site outweighs one "possible" mistake. The world will not end for Eddie because the video was on the home page. Nor can anyone go back in time and take the video off the home page as if it was never there.

One more thing. There are a lot of people playing "lawyer" for Eddie. No one from his family, his coaches or his team has contacted admin or any of the moderators concerning this. If they had I am sure admin might of taken it down.

You have to be willing to take the bad with the sweet. Here is a personal example. If you go to the website for the #1 ranked team in DII Nebraka-Omaha. There is a link on the website homepage to the Augsburg (#1 in DIII) and the video of UNO's recent dual with them. On that video my son loses to a ranked DIII wrestler. (click the link under my signature should you not believe me-it's been up over a month) It is a good match and one of the three losses UNO suffered that night. I would NEVER think of calling the school, AD, coach, website admin. or anyone associated with UNO and complain that there is a match on the "front page" of the school website that he lost and it is making my son insecure about who he is as a wrestler. Chances are my son and Eddie have not seen the videos or could care less. They have moved on. My son went out and won 4 matches in a row. If Eddie does the same thing he will be the state champ. If he doesn't I guess everyone will blame illinoismatmen.com for messing with his mind. You can't win for losing in the internet game.

So maybe everyone needs to just simmer down about the major unjust that has been done.

          Let's just move on.

BTW: If you are gonna drop wrestling for basketball then were you ever with wrestling...

Do you really think Klimara cares that it is on the homepage, no I guarantee he is just preparing for state. This video isn't what Eddie cares about it, he cares about the loss, and instead of worrying about what people will think of him losing, he is working on reaching the top of the podium..

Why? Dead bodies and car crashes are part of life too. Maybe we're showing some respect there for the other side? I agree that my comparison was way too extreme but don't lose the point vs. the process of making the point. IMO the front page treatment was more about celebrating a kid's loss not a kid's win. That's what makes it wrong for a website to give it the treatment it did when it's supposed to be for the Illinois kids. Illinois eats their own. This is no shock.

                  Yep, that's the silver lining.

Wow what a dumb thread... I say we leave the video and delete this thread (and maybe Fawn)! Great job Eddie/Nick and good luck this weekend... this times for real!

On a side note I feel sorry for those 103 pounders that find themselves in the small bracket with Klimara. He was destroying people when he wasn't mad!

I was about to say something similar to what Mr. Twister said. Has anyone from the Klimara family or the school (not fans) said anything?

If he has seen it, it's probably to study it to see what he did right, what he did wrong, how things could have been prevented, etc.

Was I ever "with wrestling"? More than you seem to be "with sarcasm".

I bet you want to give every kid a medal, by posting a match we are eating our own, then flowrestling must be the death of the wrestling, get over it you are making a fool of yourself, everybody respects Klimara, and he will be fine, although im not sure if you will be.

That is the way YOU interpret it. I dont know either kids, but I saw it as celebrating a great victory and upset. I am sure when Klimara wins the title, which he will, that his finals match will be posted somewhere. But I bet that is fine with you.... You going cry for that kid who got second?

Hey everyone! Lets not allow that State DVD to come out! It might hurt too many peoples feelings... I hate the fact that there are winners and losers in wrestling. Both wrestlers should get there hand raised at the end of the match... Boycott the DVD!!

I can see the point that this was a tremendous match that peaked the interest of all wrestling fans who enjoyed viewing it for themselves. I totally agree the Drendalls had no intention of disrespecting Eddie. It does not surprise me that others see this as a negative towards him with it being on the homepage, and yes we do eat our own in Illinois wrestling circles. Albert White, Travis Hammonds, Luke Roth, Chris Spangler, Mike Benefiel, Sterling Hecox, Eddie Klimara, Christian Malouf and countless others have been the targets of negative threads on hear. I personally am not impressed with the homepage, when the articles have inaccuracies like Cooper going for a 2nd title, and Larson being a 2 time place-winner. But I do appreciate all the hardwork that goes into the site and I wish all the wrestlers good luck this weekend.
