It is to Eddie Klimara's credit as a wrestler that his getting pinned became such a big deal. It is rare for a freshman, even at 103, to appear so far ahead of the field that his losing, especially by pin seems so remarkable.
At the same time kudos go out to Nicholas Drendel for acheiving something that no other 103 in ILL has come close to being able to do.

As i agree drendel did a great job, i dont see him reaching the podium this year, i think thier are some tough wrestlers in his side of the bracket. Just in his quarter is Matt Ornoff, Bob Gaverick, and Eddie Greco. The three people i see placing from that side of the bracket are Ornoff, Gaverick and Klimara, with Klimara being in the finals against elmore. After seeing Elmore for the first time this weekend i cannot wait to see him and klimara face off. It will be a great match and hopefully a close exciting one. I will truly be dissappointed if that final doesnt occur as i was hoping to see that final at sectionals but as we all know Nicholas Drendel wrestled very tough and pinned klimara to throw a wrench in seeing the match i wanted to.

I see the most exciting rematch being Drendel/Klimara. 1. Drendel does have some other moves. 2. If Klimara is cautious and changes his style the match will be close. 3. Every week the season is extended favors Drendel. 4. Klimara still has to make weight Sat. so he will still be drained from cutting.

It would not shock me to see a 12 to 9 score. It would not shock me to see Drendel hit a headlock and put Klimara on his back. Klimara may come out on top but I just dont see a blow out? But who knows? Ive never been good at predicting.

Eddie Kilmara was ahead 9-2 after the first period. Drendel escaped to start the second period (9-3). Drendel took Eddie down and turned him (9-8). They rolled around a little than Drendel turned him again (9-11) and pinned him. I don't know how you count, but that says Drendel was ahead 11-9 when he pinned him. Turning a kid twice isn't catching him in a move. The question about who would win a rematch is a diiferent question, and I agree with your answer (Eddie).

Who said, it wasn't a good match? The reason, it is a "Big Story" is the #1 Ranked undefeated wrester t 103 was bet. Had Eddie lost 12-11 or any score to anyone it would have been a big story.

It was a great match. Kilmara won the first period, Drendel won the second period, and I would have loved to see the third period. To bad in wresling a fall ends the match!!! Good luck to both these kids at the state meet.

i dont see any problem with the parents putting the video on youtube cause something of this size deservese to be on youtube, but i do disagree with putting it on the front page of illinois matmen...that was a lil over the top, but i guess the bigger they are the harder they fall

You guys need to stop hating on Drendel. He had a very good second period against Klimara and threw him not only once, but twice. If a number one ranked kid got pinned wouldn't many of you want to see it? If you're going to talk about disrespect, you should talk about the disrespect towards Drendel. Mr. Drendel didn't post the video to disrespect Klimara, he posted the video on youtube so that Nicholas' brother Jon could watch it because he was unable to be there to watch his brother wrestle.

i believe it was the right decision to post it on both youtube and illinoismatmen.com, if the bears beat the patriots or colts should they not show it on t.v. or the internet because the bears upset a higher ranked team? the kid worked his *** off to get that win, he wanted to show his older brother, and one kid (klimara) got a fire lit under his *** that might just be hot enough to bring home a bracket and a medal in champaigne.
