  • Pre-Register for Frosh-Soph State???

The info on TeamIllinois is not clear on whether or not you pre-pay/pre-register or does your kid just show up the morning of the Regionals for weigh-ins with $20 bucks???

I was informed that the kids shows up with a AAU card and his $20.00. He would then hit the scales. The child and coach must have the AAU cards prior to coming as they will not be sold at that time.

    Hope this helps

They will not be selling the cards at the door. You must get them on line. You can print the card out.

Is it true that if a wrestler is involved with Team State Duals on 2/28/09, they DO NOT have to show up at the Regional and they go directly to
Sectionals ? Or , do they have to make some kind of arraingment prior ?
Also , if this is correct , do they get penalized in regards to seeding for Sectionals ?

yeah they don't have to go to Regionals. Some teams like Libertyville still send their guys to the regional though. I believe those that show up to sectionals get fed to or pigtail into the 1 seed.

Thanks for the quick response. I have another question. Does my kid have to have a coach? I got him the AAU/Added Benefit card online that from what I'm reading allows him to participate w/o a coach??? (Unfortunately, my younger boy has IESA Regionals that same day and I'll be coaching him and our team that day)

Most of the wrestlers do not have coaches because IHSA rules prevent their high school coaches from participating.

No seedings, just show up and wrestle.

I don't think that is true since the two years my son participated there were high school coaches coaching as well as dad coaches and i may have even seen a few mom coaches.

Since when do HS coaches follow IHSA rules? Call them on it and suffer the wrath!

                            Yes - Coaches Coach

High School coaches do coach their kids.

And you have always been able to get an AAU Card at the door but it seems like this year you have to order it online. I would contact one of the host schools to check on that.

Coaches have to be REALLY careful if they coach their athletes outside of the regular season.
