First round action under way here...Ramos looked pretty good against Wise from O'Fallon on Mat 6. Three first-period takedowns and pinned him with a cradle in the second period...2:58.

Klimara had a little trouble getting off the bottom late against Gonzalez but really wasn't pushed...won 12-8. Gave up a late one at the end.

Juarez just slammed Scully over on Mat 1...score was 7-7 and it was a two-pointer, so it was his third penalty of the match...now Scully is ahead 9-7. Nine seconds left. The slam call was legit, but what a way to go. A smattering of boos after...it still feels like it's 8:30 in the morning in this building.

Drew just took down Ambrose and leads 6-3 with 52 seconds left. Ambrose spins out and faces him...he's out. 6-4. Kept trying to spin behind but Drew never lost the leg...he got a final one on a desperation shot at the end. Drew beats Ambrose, 8-4...

Jackson and Avelar just started here on Mat 4...both working underhooks. Slight advantage to Jackson positionally in the first quarter but so far scoreless.

119 hasn't been announced yet...should be available soon. We do have 103 and 112. Jag is posting the agate in his blog.

Avelar scores on an underarm spin...2-1 with 44 seconds left in the second period. It's been all underhooks and hand-fighting and Avelar finally hit one. He's out in the third period and leads 3-1 with 1:30 left.

No upsets at 119...DeSario and Surber both had falls. That match should be interesting. Avelar just tossed Jackson and got the fall. Impressive. 5:29. Now here comes Ellis on 3.

Ellis gets the fall at 1:18...now he probably gets Schneider, who's ahead 4-2 after 1.

Schneider gets the fall...wound up taking Callan down to his back to start the third period...looks like he's going to his own back and winds up with the leadlock and the fall. Fun to watch.

Well, anybody who thinks adding classes doesn't dilute the talent doesn't know wrestling. At 119...three falls, a tech and a major. At 125...five falls, a tech and a 15-1 decision. When you put a No. 1 against a No. 4 you're asking for blowouts. This is the way it's going to be from now on, folks.

I totally agree this whole 3 class system is a joke. It doesn't seem like an exciting first round just a bunch of blow outs

Sorry...we got thrown off briefly...Murphy caught Rangel trying to roll through for a late five-pointer and won 8-5...late reversal by Rangel wasn't enough. Luke Nelson took Greco down to his back in OT and won 7-3.
