When I look at Marsden as a freshman and sophomore...and then as a junior and this year...wow...what an improvement.

I'll say this...he is going to make an excellent DI wrestler.

Having seen both arguements I would agree that Marsden and Whitford would be my top two picks. However it is very difficult to determine what is more dominating, the pin or the tech fall. While it appears that Marsden dominates in terms of pins, it seems to me that Whitford dominates in tech falls. While pinning someone clearly ends the match and shows superiority it does not reflect what happened before the pin took place. Tech falls clearly show dominance for the duration of the match. That being said I hate watching the humiliation of the tech fall.

True but Smith had a very close match in the finals and Congenie dominated. I think the reason Congie gassed in the 3rd is because he has rarley even made it to a 3rd period this year!

He gave up a couple but did you see that nasty firemans he hit Brooks with in the 3rd while he was gassing?

I had to do a double take because I thought Max Schneider was wrestling.....HELLO

But when I looked down a few rows he was still in his seat.....LOL.

              I will repost this:

              Marsden at Conant:
Fall 2:00, fall 1:21, fall :58 (semis), fall :28 (finals)

              Dvorak:
Fall 2:49, fall :35, Maj Dec 17-5 (semis), fall 3:12 (finals) over Joe Gonzalez, LT AAA state runner-up

              Fox Valley Conference:
Fall 1:20 fall 1:40 fall :58 (finals) over AAA #5 ranked Cody Churkey

              AA State championship:
Fall 4:14 fall 2:21 (semis) over #6 ranked Ruano fall 2:48 (finals) over #3 ranked Kent

              That is just plain brutal!

While Allen had some close matches vs Ryan, Peiroth, and Lopez, NONE of Marsden's peers, in AA or AAA were even close to him. Congenie was tough, but NO he has a loss (yea, I know it was a DQ) and he only beat Doyle 8-3.

Great, but still not as dominant as Marsden, plus...while I think he would win AAA at 125, he would have tough matches vs Klimara or Sabatello. I think Marsden could have won AAA 215 in his sleep.

                    Congenie a close second.

i have to go with whitford, than zane richards, luke smith and congenie. in that order. whitford and richards would of won it all in any of the divisions as well plus they are both strong in freestyle. thanks

Not talking freestyle, just talking THIS season and I don't see any of them being more dominant at their weight class this year (including Whitford) than Marsden was.

There were tons of great moments at State, but that fireman's (and it WAS NASTY!) in the last minute of a ferocious match was ... maybe my favorite piece of wrestling.

Huge kudos to Steve for an amazing career and a spectacular final win over a proud, terrific competitor.

Most dominant wrestler in 3A Edwin "Coop" Cooper! Kid is a a legit stud and I wish him well in college he could do some damage on the next level.

2a I want to give it to Whitford just for that throw, crazy, but Mardsen was incredible, pinning everyone with ease.

Side note: Akui is very good, almost impossible to score on but not a "dominant" wrestler. If you pin/tech guys you will be considered dominant.

Yea, you could say that Cooper was probably making up for the beatdown he got last year at the hands of Surber...he didn't waste any time with Savenok. Cooper did lose a match this year tho it was to Robertson at 152lbs.

Great as Whitford was this year, and he REALLY was, Marsden was just ridiculous...his teammate Harrah was pretty dominant as well.

                                Perfect season

1A - Thorian Twyner gets my vote. He certainly dominated all others at 130 lb. this year. Admittedly, I am not as familiar with other wrestlers as I am with Thorian. I’ve had the pleasure of watching almost all of his matches the last 4 years. In that time he has developed an exceptional skill set combined with “cat-like” reflexes and (as others have noted) he is lightning quick. Pinned his way through the Oregon Sectional and majored his way through State. An Illinois State Championship with a 42-0 record is IMPRESSIVE. I look forward to following Thorian’s collegiate career at NIU.
