Coach Hahn

I tend to put the most credence in what the wrestlers say about their coach. My son always said that he and all his teamates would run through a wall for Coach Hernandez, at Maine East. This was not because he never yelled at them, but because all of his wrestlers knew that coach cared so much about them. This is not something my son could not say about some of his other coaches. The wrestlers and asst. coaches are the ones that know the true soul of the coach. We may see how things appear from the outside and like to believe that is enough to really know the person and the program.

Very well said....it's really about the kids anyway, isn't it? Coach Hahn is an excellent role model for all of his wrestlers...just ask them AND their parents. Again, as a parent of a former high school wrestler and former wrestling coach myself....I only wish my son could have wrestled for him!

Agreed. You could not pay me enough money to wrestle for anyone else. Coach Hahn treated everyone one of us like we were his own kid. I'm honored just to say I was part of his program. And it's not just coach Hahn, it's every coach on that staff, Gomez wrestling academy, villa Lombard cougars and the entire community really

I have seen Hahn coach many times....and I will say that I'm a fan. I don't know if he was ever a great wrestler himself but nobody can question that he does motivate his kids. And yes, this is maybe the most consistently good team over the past 20 years. And that fact has to be attributed to Hahn.

But as stated , sometimes he doesn't do his team or individuals any favors by the constant questioning of calls.

And I have started threads on the subject ....that it is absolutely back dated thinking that they choose to avoid Montini because they think they don't want to give them any attention?!?! This goofy thinking deprives the entire wrestling community a potentially great rivalry and prevents their kids from getting in some great competition from kids that are at a school just 10 miles away.It makes no sense.

I believe, that after the 2007, and 2008 season, Montini vs GBN was secretly outlawed from dueling each other (and I do mean the spelling) by the IHSA . It was the real reason of going to three classes, separate the 2 big dogs before someone got hurt.

Uhmmmm....the only people that got hurt was the Illinois wrestling community by being deprived a great rivalry.

I was at the infamous dual, and yes , there was alot of chest thumping and silliness and immaturity to go around....but my recollection was that not a single punch was thrown....but there was alot of great wrestling.

I single GBN out because I have it on good authority that Montini has asked several times for a contract and Hahn is not interested. And as you know I do not represent either GBN or Montini.

I only mention this subject because I am a Hahn fan but this is one of the two subjects that he is suspect IMO.

I can almost guarantee that Montini will be happy to put GBN on the schedule, just say when. How about they join OPRF and call Sandburg for a quad? I bet Coach Powell won't back down.
