Two years ago they were being hyped as a team who could win it all and lost in the sectional, last year they were being hyped as a team who could win it all and didn't make it out of the regional. Why dont you just let the kids wrestle and see what happens instead of making such outlandish predictions so you dont have people thinking its a dissapointing season if they only come away with 4 or 5 placers

You're right CC, I think Marist will go undefeated, in Illinois, and they could be ranked in the top 20, maybe better , in the nation. Also, if Sandburg wins one match, from 160 through heavyweight against Marist, they'd be pretty lucky. There's definitely some individual champions coming in the next couple seasons. I think saying that 8 people place, is being conservative. 6 placed last year, and their 2 best wrestlers Benoit, and Howell didn't, and that won't happen again. I think both of those guys place top 3. It's going to be a fun season...I'm looking forward to it.

" That's right, I start crying. Because another human being, a species that I happen to belong to, can kick a ball, and lift himself, and the rest of us sad assed human beings, up to a better place to be, if only for a minute... let me tell ya, kid - it was pretty god dammed glorious. It ain't the six minutes...it's what happens in that six minutes. "

Their last individual champion was Jake Murphy -2004. FYI

Seriously, I will place $1,000 up and take the under on 8 individual placers. The odds that a team will have all 8 guys stay healthy and not suffer an "unexpected" loss are almost astronomical. I stand by the under for $1,000!

I have said it before, "Be a fan, don't be a meatball!" It's fine to say Marist will be a really good team, probably the best in IL, but 8 placers, NOPE!

Ethan Benoit and Howell were not their two best wrestlers, you must have forgot about a guy named Duda and how do you know that wont happen again? You were the one saying that Benoit would take top 3 this year and he got teched and pinned in sectionals. You were saying that Howell would place this year and he lost to a guy who weighed 195lbs or less from Plainfield in the wrestlebacks. Duda, Andreotti, Alex Benoit, and Hickey are the only gurantees, they might get 2 more which would make it 6, but no way they get 8. St. Rita set the state record with 8 in 2003 with a great team that won state and getting that many was unexpected. For anyone to say that 8 placers is a conservative is crazy. They will be good, but put me down with Big Vern on the under.

Sandburg did win a match from 160-285 last year. Former Marist great Bill Gore beat Pruitt at the regional and him injury defaulting at state is the reason Pruitt placed. Ill take him over Pruitt or Howell and I'll take Robertson who took 2nd in state over either Benoit

Marist will be as dominant as their 1987 team - bank on it.

They may not achieve as high a national ranking as that squad but they'll be undefeated in IL.

145 - Hordowicz - SR. never stops attacking...could qualify this year.

152 - Condon - SOPH. - a 2 time runner up in IKWF, I believe. I know he was a runner up in 8th grade for Vittum. Tough kid. Will qualify for state, and may place.

                        160 - Andreotti - JR. - top 2 next season...probably a state champ.

170 - A. Benoit - SOPH. - State champ next season - I don't see anybody coming up from 160, or staying at 170 who can beat him.

I see 12 state qualifiers, and 11 state placers, next season.

                                Fandomonia!

2 incoming freshman projected to be at the same weight both with a good chance of placing? 11 placers?! Saying a kid didn't show up to a state match because he didn't think he could win?

Since when did the Montini fans switch their allegiance to Marist.
