We all know about Cortez, Brill, White, Robertson...
However, what about the upper-classmen that did not qualify for State previously that are having a great "breakout" year? Maybe just sheer hard work has gotten them to a higher level. Here are a few that come to mind for me:
113: Calkins (Wheaton North)- took 3rd in Regional last year.
126: Radcliffe (Lockport)- took 4th in Regional last year.
132: Vela (St. Charles)- took 4th in Regional last year.
138: O'Mara (OPRF)- took 3rd in Regional last year.
152: Higgins (Belleville West)- Not Top 5 in Sectional last year.
160: Brucki (Carl Sandburg)- Lost to Andreotti in Regional 13-3. No Top 5 in Sectional last year.
170: Downs (Quincy)- Never even heard of him last year.
195: Montoya (Lockport)- took 3rd in Regional last year.
These are all guys who deserve recognition. I'm not saying they will state but have greatly improved. I'm sure you have some to add.
