kim kardashian said on Access Hollywood that yates maybe transfering as well to either Marmion or Marist. (She thought both schools were the same). but Geraldo Rivera on fox news last night said he interviewed Rudy Yates, which will air after the Hawks game on wed, and said that the kid was staying at BR.

it is a rumor started by Willie Saylor. It is probably enough said that Mr. Saylor is the one breaking news in Illinois. Now to a rumor with real legs. Freshman Phenom and the rest of John Bosco's studs will be joining Cade Olivas and several other studs at San Marino. Another rumor is that Pico may be using the world championships as tesiting the waters to skip his sophomore wrestling season and just compete internationally. Sorry no local rumors.

There was a rumor going around in February/March that he and Edmond from Hinsdale Central were transfering to Montini. Also some talks about OPRFs 145lber not coming back because he's moving.

Would not shock me at all. He would have WAY better partners at OPRF.

Brother Rice would have 1 great wrestler and a few decent ones if he stayed. If he is gone, Rice might not have a single state qualifier. Balich maybe. We all know OPRF is loaded top to bottom, this would only add to the depth and strength of the team.

Brother Rice is a bad team with or without him and he still won a state title without being challenged. Most people know that he only practiced with them on a part time basis the question is will Powell let him go to Trstis 2 or 3 times a week and will Powell allow Mr. Yates to coach him like Rice did? The move would benefit Powell because that is one less guy he has to teach and develop (we all know he does enough taking kids from Oak Park and River Forest and turns them into winners ) I guess as Rudy moves up in weight through the years he will have some close matches and he can learn from the best on how to take injury time when your tired. In all seriousness its not going to benefit a state champ transfering to a powerhouse program (Pique runner up twice since transfering) its going to benefit the coach and team by making them stronger. Really not much insentive for Rudy to transfer unless he gets the luxury apartment in the complex.

I want to clear a few things up. First, I’d like to thank the wrestling community for the support they gave my son this past season. I’m not sure how Willie Saylor (Flowrestling) came up with this story about Rudy and OP. Rudy is NOT leaving Brother Rice High School. He truly loves the school, coaches, team, and classmates. Rudy never missed a single practice at Brother Rice. I never sat in the chair for any of Rudy’s high school matches. I also did not coach him or anyone on the team at practice. Rudy’s worked with Alex Tsirtsis in his FREE time the last three years and will continue to do so in his FREE time. It might not have started this way, but by seasons end Coach Weick, Coach Panozzo, Coach Ogelsby, Coach Curran, Coach Murzyn, and Coach Burke became more than Rudy’s coaches, they became family and I can’t thank them enough! I can’t forget Jennifer Weick as she was in the stands cheering for the team and Rudy the whole season. Thank you Jen! This should answer the question regarding Rudy leaving BR. Thanks again for all the support and love my son received throughout this past season. Good luck to everyone next season. Enjoy your summer!

                Best,

                Jack Yates

Ahhhh the refreshing site of loyalty that you rarely see now a days in IHSA wrestling. Hopefully this can be a lesson to wrestlers/parents that you don't need a powerhouse program to better yourself as a wrestler

Do I detect sarcasm or just an intentional failure to apologize?

Then your detection skills aren't very good. What is sarcastic about that? I'm serious when I say I hope Yates is an example that you don't need to wrestle for OPRF Sandburg Marmion Marist Montini ... to improve as a wrestler

Good message actually. I think it would better if it didn't have an uninvolved kid in the middle of it but I see your point nonetheless.

Unfortunately if winning a team title is important to you then you can't say the same (no slight to Minooka or GBN who are always in the hunt) and that's a good deal of the reason why people don't care as much as they should about team titles.

                              Nothing wrong with transfers though.
