Regional Bracket Release Time Changed by IHSA

I just checked Track Wrestling and the release date has been changed to Saturday morning at 9am. I have contacted the IHSA to see if we can get this fixed.

The wrestling community understands that these brackets are subject to change after weigh-ins, so I see no reason not to release them today.

Heck, in the past regional sites would send us PDF copies of the brackets prior to the tournament.

It's hilarious. In other bracketed sports, they release not only seeds, but full brackets 1 month before the season even ends. Yet, for wrestling, we have to wait until the day of regionals to see it.

Don't know yet. I have a text and email into the admins at the IHSA. They are usually good at getting back to me so hopefully I will know soon.

IHSA might be thinking there will be too much shifting around after everyone sees who entered at what weight. The scratch meeting Saturday morning could last a long time if a bunch of seeded wrestler switch. For example say 160 decides to go 170 because he migh have a better chance of making it downstate, then they would have to re-seed atleast 170 and maybe 160 if they enter a wrestler who might deserve a seed. IHSA doesn't want reseeding to cause a late start to any regional tourney. Just my guess why.

Response from Craig Anderson of the IHSA:

"I have made the decision to hold off until tomorrow morning in posting brackets.

As you noted the brackets are not final and as a result not necessary for public viewing until we have them final."

It looks like everyone will have to anxiously wait until tomorrow morning.

Correct. All of the coaches from a particular regional have the brackets. I think the concern is a wrestler knowing where other wrestlers around the state are at.

But if the wrestling community really wanted to get their point across, I am sure 300+ calls to Craig Anderson's office over the next 3hrs would be a good start.
