Going into the Quaterfinals, OPRF has 6, including unseeded Nico Bolivar at 120lbs, and 5 in the consolation bracket, right behind St Edward which has 7 in the Quarterfinals and 6 in the consolation bracket. In the team race, OPRF trails St Edward by 4 points, 96.5 to 92.5.

OPRF did pretty well in the Quarters, not well in the Semi-Finals losing some tough matches. Lost four in the blood round (Consolation 4).

113lbs: Rundell in the 3rd place match

            120lbs: N. Bolivar wrestling for 5th

            126lbs: Ogunsanya wrestling for 5th

            132lbs: E. Bolivar 3rd place match

            182lbs: Middlebrooks 5th place match

            285lbs: Hollis 3rd place match

Top 4 Teams: St Edward (OH) way out in front with 181pts, OPRF 2nd 158.5, Kiski Area (PA) 130, Parkersburg South (WV) 129.

Best finals match-up: Bryce Andonian St Edward (OH) v Chris Donathan Mason (OH).

                    Oak Park showed well...

NB was up 1-0 going to 3rd place match and was up 1-0 with less than 10 seconds and get taken down.

Rundell rode his semi-finals opponent and looked like he could have got swipes two times and nothing, then in the 3rd chose bottom and his opponent gets swipes.

DM in his consy 6 is down 5-4 looks like a take down on the edge and they don't call it. Re-watching it both knees and feet are clearly in bounds and they call it out. not sure what they saw.

EB in his semi-finals match is up 3-2 with less than 20 seconds and gets taken down.

OPRF could be tough moving forward. If they stay healthy and get a full-lineup the state series could be a good one!

Well done OPRF! Now for my Favorite tournament of the wrestling season. THE CLASH!

                        Top 5 teams:

                        St Edward: 196
                        OPRF: 170
                        Parkersburg South: 136
                        Kiski Area: 134
                        Hempfield: 121

Notes: St Eds had two 1st place finishers, two 2nd place finishers, a 6th, 7th, and 8th. Ironman champ Sam Dover lost in the finals at 152lbs. OPRF had two 3rd place finishers, a 4th, two 5th places, and a 6th out of a 12 man roster.

For large, deep national individual tournaments like The Ironman, Powerade, etc that use a bracket (not pool format like the Cheesehead) the two MOST important rounds for team competition are the Quarterfinals and the 4th Consolation bracket or "blood round". You win in the Quarters and advance to the Semifinals you place. If you make it through the 4th Consolation bracket, you place.

OPRF is one of the 4 #1 seeds at The Clash, along with Shakopee (MN), Waverly-Shellrock (IA), and Apple Valley (MN). Like last year I will be in Rochester, MN for the tournament and announcing for OPRF on TrackCast.
