NCAA D2 Finals- Edmond vs. Surber; White 6pm

Great Illinois finals match to watch between Juwan Edmond and Keith Surber tonight at 6pm. They're wrestling at 149. Isaiah White is going for a title at 165.
Over the years not too many Illinois guys have gone D2.

D3 finals are also tonight at 7pm. Not sure if there's any Illinois guys in the finals this year, but Adarios Jones placed 3rd, Chris Williams placed 4th and Zac Denny placed 5th.

Special kudos to Adarios Jones. For those that don't remember, the 2014 3A 285# state champ was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer shortly after he started his college career at Northern Iowa. He returned home, beat it and is now back on the mat at Augustana (obviously with a good deal of success). Way to go big guy.

Jimmy Davis, Junior from Waubonsie Valley, took 5th place at D3 for the Loras Duhawks.

Artful performance from Isaiah White. Complete domination in the finals.

Keith Surber is as good as ever with his leg ride. He controlled Edmond throughout the match with front head and rode him on the mat. Edmond wrestled all the way up at 165 last year. Wonder if the cut took any toll.

Darren Wynn from Centennial HS in Champaign, Illinois took second. He was the champ last year.

Destin McCauley, the former 5-time Minnesota state champ, lost an exiting match at 157.

Jones would've been a good one at UNI.

I'm expecting White to transfer out to Ohio State. They were his choice out of high school, but there may have been some grade issues. Too bad he did not want to go to Illinois for some reason. We sure could use him.

He would've been stuck behind Imar next year.

Not that it matters since he's not coming to Illinois, but he could always move up to 174 to challenge Montalvo.
