ILLINOIS MATWOMEN’S TOP 50 IHSA GIRLS POUND-FOR-POUND WRESTLERS
Part 5 of 5: #10–#1
The final ten. The countdown reaches the top.
Forty wrestlers have been revealed. The final ten bring together seven defending IHSA champions, three returning state runners-up and seven wrestlers who have reached the Fargo podium. Every athlete in this installment wrestled for an IHSA championship in 2026. Together, they have already won ten IHSA individual titles.
That is the standard at the top of the Illinois Matwomen countdown. These wrestlers have earned their positions through championship runs, repeated state medals and significant results beyond Illinois. Some are preparing to defend a first title. Others are trying to turn a runner-up finish into a championship. At the top stands a three-time IHSA champion with consecutive Juniors Fargo All-American finishes and major tournament victories beyond the state series.
The connections to the earlier installments continue. Charlotte Nold defeated Saya Hongmoungkhoune on her way to the state final. Chloe Skiles finished ahead of Zoey Dodgers in the 110-pound championship match. Payton Temple and Courtney Walls won titles against Sara Martinez Lopera and Samantha Diehl. Within this final group, Ariella Dobin defeated Rain Scott for the 125-pound championship, while Angelina Gochis defeated Amelia Nidelea-Polanin at 120.
Six seniors, two juniors and two sophomores make up the final ten. Their accomplishments give the coming season several compelling storylines, from seniors pursuing a final championship to younger wrestlers whose first high school seasons have already placed them among the state’s best.
As throughout the series, IHSA state-series results carry the greatest weight, with head-to-head meetings and significant regional and national performances adding context. Historical results remain attached to the year, weight and age division in which they were earned.
