CHAMPAIGN • Friday was filled with a great deal of emotion—the good, the really good, the bad, and the really bad. And, after all the wrestling was wrestled out, it was now time for Saturday. Once Saturday morning hit, well, the infamous “Blood Round” was the only round that mattered to four of the remaining eight in the bracket. A win meant advancing into the medal round. A loss meant being eliminated from the tournament.
With that, there was one more weigh-in for one more opportunity to earn a medal. Once the “Blood Round” matches were completed, and the medal matches were set, there were those that placed 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th.
Here are nine of those interviews from the wrestlers who were able to reserve their place on the podium.
