Ten more names. More connections. Another step toward the top.
Part 1 opened Illinois Matwomen’s Top 50 with nine returning IHSA medalists, state semifinalists and wrestlers whose success extended beyond Illinois. The opening ten set a high standard for the rest of the countdown.
The next ten bring another nine returning IHSA medalists, a Fargo All-American and several direct connections to the athletes featured last week. Charlie Dolan defeated Yariah Shaw in a state consolation semifinal. Anali Wilson finished ahead of Kira Thompson and Layla Spann at 170. Alketa Picari’s run to third at 140 included a victory over Sasha Johnson. Their paths have already crossed, and the coming season promises more matchups worth following.
Part 2 also brings together wrestlers at different stages of their high school careers: five seniors, two juniors and three sophomores. Some have one final IHSA season to pursue a higher finish. Others have already made the podium with most of their high school careers still in front of them.
As in Part 1, IHSA state-series results carry the most weight, with freestyle, regional and national performances adding context. A placement matters, and so does the route taken to earn it.
Grades, listed weights and weight-class rankings reflect this edition’s 2026-27 list. Past results remain attached to the weights and divisions where they were earned.
