THIRD YEAR. BIGGER TARGETS.
Illinois Matwomen’s IHSA Junior Top 50, 2026/2027
By Illinois Matwomen
October 28, 2026
Chloe Skiles has two IHSA championships. Allison Garbacz returns with the 2026 title at 155 pounds. Saya Hongmoungkhoune has a championship and a third-place finish from the last two state tournaments. At the front of Illinois’ Class of 2028, the expectations are already substantial.
The more interesting question reaches beyond those familiar names: which juniors can make the next jump? A state qualifier can become a medalist. An IWCOA champion can build an IHSA podium case. A fall win can put a wrestler back into a conversation that looked settled in February.
This edition updates the junior list against Illinois Matwomen’s October ranking files and verified results. Fifteen wrestlers were selected at random for the spotlights below, giving the feature a mix of established contenders and names farther down the rankings. Medal forecasts are our assessment, not guaranteed finishes. Listed weights are preseason projections from the HS master, not declarations of where an athlete must compete.
