OAK FOREST • This past weekend, IL/USAW held its Greco-Roman State Championships at Oak Forest High School, and in the 16U and Junior divisions, the top three wrestlers at each weight secured an opportunity to represent the highly coveted Team Illinois this summer at the National Duals and inside of The Fargodome.
Additional national qualification can be earned by any wrestler from entering and placing at any of the Regionals in the month of May or by winning the IL/USAW Second Chance tournament. If a wrestler places at a national tournament, like a Regional, then that wrestler automatically qualifies for the National Team and for the National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota.
There were no team scores kept; however, using a simple 4, 3, 2, 1 point appropriation for first, second, third, and fourth place, here is a look at the top five team scores that wrestlers listed as their club in order of points, as well as listing each club’s total placewinners:
