HERRIMAN, UTAH • Inside of Zions Bank Stadium on day two of the 16U Greco-Roan National Duals, Illinois found itself in Pool A where they would have to contend with Minnesota Blue, Missouri, and Iowa before being placed in the final pool for place matches. As expected, Illinois and Iowa met up in the finals of the “Gold and Silver” Pool A; unfortunately, in the end, it would be Iowa advancing to the championship bout, and Illinois would be pushed into the third-place dual where they would rebound and go on to earn a third-place finish.
Team Illinois opened their second day and their final pool with Minnesota Blue, who gave the Land of Lincoln Greco-goers all they could handle. In a dual that only saw three decisions, it was a battle for who would score the bigger points all while earning the shutouts to limit points—and limiting points would be the difference maker in this one.
