16U: Illinois wins Pool D, now in National Duals Championship Pool

HERRIMAN, UTAH • Team Illinois, who came into the 16U Greco-Roman National Duals as the fourth seed, the number one seed in Pool D, did what they were expected to do—they advanced into the Finals. Now in the “Gold and Silver Pool,” they will face off against Team Minnesota Blue (Round 1), Team Missouri (Round 2), and Team Iowa (Round 3) as the final four teams battle it out for this year’s National Duals championship.

As for day one, Team Illinois did Team Illinois damage in its first three matchups throughout Pool D.

In their opening bout, they defeated the Oklahoma Outlaws Red team by a decisive 59-16 score, winning 15 of the 17 matchups, and taking 10 by technical superiority, three by way of decision, and adding two by fall.
