SYCAMORE • This past weekend in Sycamore the final qualifications for Team Illinois were wrestled out and earned across both disciplines in the 16U and Junior Divisions. Now, there are a number of wrestlers who competed in several, if not all, possible qualifiers. In that, they have not only done right by themselves and their own development, but they have, if qualified through a regional, opened up additional Team IL/USAW National Team allocations for others.
The only guaranteed qualifier to wrestle inside of the Fargodome listed is the winner of each of the following weight classes. After that, the piecing together of Team Illinois will come in the form of a very intricate process of seeing which wrestlers are petitioning in, the returning All-Americans, and a variety of variables. Once all of the guaranteed qualifiers have been finalized, phone calls traditionally go out and the asking to fill roster spots for weight classes begins.
